Danish Refugee Council - Tanzania Job Vacancy – Shelter Engineer Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization which provides assistance and promotes durable solutions for refugees and internally displaced people, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. Danish Refugee Council is a new humanitarian actor in Tanzania. As part of the Burundian Refugee Response in Tanzania, DRC will implement in the sectors of camp management, protection and shelter/ small infrastructure. In order to fulfill DRCs new operations in Tanzania, we are opening the following position for a Tanzania national: Under the supervision of the Shelter & Small Infrastructure Manager the Shelter Engineer will contribute with the implementation of DRC shelter activities in Nduta and Mtendeli Refugee Camps in Tanzania. Tasks and responsibilities of the position: Contribute to the development of camp shelter strategies and participate in the development of relevant community construction projects; Contribute to development of next shelter phase for in the camp including construction of an transitional mud brick shelter prototype; Upgrading of 500 emergency shelters for people with special needs (PSN) Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects; Represent DRC in working groups and other coordination functions in the camp as and when necessary; Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders; Provide technical specifications and B&Q as required; Provide regular shelter progress reports; Develop and manage project budget in cooperation with the Shelter and Small Scale Infrastructure Manager. Mentor and ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills. Requirements: Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context Experience from working in complex and rural contexts Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile Fluency in English, both written and verbal Previous work experience with a national/international NGO Terms of Employment: Salary and conditions in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment for National Staff in Tanzania and based on UNHCR Tanzania’s salary scale for IP National Staff. Duration of employment: 6 months with possible extension based on performance and funding availability.
