Triangle Mobile Project
Honors Geometry
Name_______________________________
Period______________________________
The project description is on page 326 and 327 of your Geometry textbook.
The final product should include a sketch of your original design, your mobile and your written
description and self-assessment.
Your grade will be based on the following rubric and will count as a test grade!
4 points
Students design and
construct a mobile that
meets all of the
requirements listed for the
project. Students may also
decide to illustrate additional
properties or theorems from
the chapter in their mobile.
Students balance their
mobile and write a clear and
concise description of how it
was designed and how it
illustrates the listed
requirements. Students give
a self-assessment of the
project and answer the
questions asked.
3 points
Students design and
construct a mobile that
meets most of the
requirements listed for
the project. The mobile
balances and students
write a description of
how their mobile was
designed. However,
the description does
not explain how all of
the requirements were
met. Students
complete a selfassessment of the
project and answer all
of the questions asked.
2 points
Students design a
mobile and attempt to
construct it, but the
mobile does not meet
all of the requirements
listed for the project
and the construction is
not adequate because
the mobile does not
balance. Students
write a description of
the mobile, but it is not
complete. A selfassessment is
attempted, but it does
not answer all of the
questions asked.
1 point
Students begin a design
of a mobile, but do not
complete its
construction. Few of the
requirements listed for
the project are met and
no description is written.
Students do not
complete a selfassessment of the
project. Students should
be encouraged to speak
with the teacher as
soon as possible to
review their work and to
make a new start on the
project.
