NBC's The Apprentice 3: Teams Use Power of Promotional Marketing
Friday February 4, 2005
This week's episode of The Apprentice 3 had each team receive $75,000 to create and
execute a marketing campaign for Nescafé Taster's Choice coffee. Nescafé executives
judged the winners based on the biggest buzz generated. Team Net Worth (Street Smarts)
developed a patriotic themed giveaway of $10,000. Team Magna (Book Smarts)
launched an iPod giveaway with balloons and a mime. When the final judging was
completed, Net Worth stood victorious and were rewarded with a helicopter ride over
NYC.
Small Business Lesson: Both teams employed promotional marketing tactics such as
sampling and contest giveaways to reach their target market. Promotional marketing need
not be expensive. One of Mrs. Field's Cookies secrets to success was free cookie
giveaways. Apply promotional marketing to your small business and experience a sales
boost!
