“ Environmental awareness for
better life “ is one major issue
raised by MSE ever since it has
been established . All school
departments work hand _in _
hand to accomplish the mission
believing that our students are
the changes we wish to see in
the world . The school
encouraged projects ,research
and effective social interaction to
help rising students’
environment
awareness .Fortunately ,the
school efforts were recognized
and appreciate by becoming a
participant in the UNESCO
Associated Schools Project
Network in Education for
International Cooperation and
peace . So, with this decoration
on our chest being affiliated with
UNSCO, MSE is working twice
as hard as before and with great
enthusiasm to contribute more
effectively to the environment
awareness issue .
A wonderful experience
gained by MSEIANS was
collecting waste batteries
and exchanging them for
green plants .The students
were taught a practical
lesson about the impact of
waste batteries on the
environment . Student were
motivated by the idea and
prepared some researches
on bad effects of waste
batteries , meanwhile
science teachers dedicated
sessions to discuss the issue
with them

A group of the preparatory and
secondary students from both the
English and French school of MSE
paid a visit to her Excellency Mrs.
Nadia Makram Ebeid the EX_
Minister of environment and
Executive Director of the center of
Environment and Development for
the Arab Region and Europe . The
meeting was held for the aim of
getting acquainted with the effort
exerted by the “ Ministry of
Environment “ and the role played
in saving and protecting society
from pollution .Students discussed
lots of related topics as they asked
questions about air and water
pollution ,and how to spread
environment awareness among
society for better and safer
life .Questions about the Black
Cloud ( smog ) , the harm resulting
from factory wastes were spoken
out .
All in all ,the meeting was a fruitful
one which helped our students in
realizing that the human factor
has a great role in serving the
environment and participating to a
great extent in having clean and
healthy environment .
Consequently , a questionnaire was
given by the school to primary
students aiming at increasing their
environmental awareness.
Exploring the environment was another major issue raised by
MSE. Students were allowed the chance to go on trips to many
preserved area where they camped and enjoyed the experience of
living a simple life and interacting with nature .Some of the sites
visited by the students were Fossilized woods ,El Rayan
Valley ,Ras Mohamed preserve
MSE has launched a programme that caters for developing
Students’ life skills and potentialities as the school has
implemented the idea of recycling ,reusing , reducing and
renewing with different perspective ;
Students practiced the idea of recycling and reusing things as
they were asked to throw litter in sorting bins .Moreover they
were taught how to make simple things from easily available
materials e.g. cans ,buttons ,paper etc------ and their products
were displayed in the school annual exhibition .
As MSE believes in the role played by social and cultural
interaction in developing both its students and teachers’ skills ,the
school was consistent to participate in various projects that
promote inter_ cultural dialogue and self esteem;
 “ Image of the Middle East “ is a festival that was held in August ,2006
for two weeks in Denmark which includes both cultural and
developmental educational programmes. A couple of teachers from
every Arab country were chosen to represent their nation and we are
proud that two of our teachers were selected to represent Egypt in this
great event . The purpose of this festival was to strengthen the inter _
cultural understanding and dialogue between Denmark and Middle
East countries .MSE is really proud that its teachers were able to play
such an important role in giving a better insight to people in Denmark
about knowledge and the means of teaching in Egypt and Middle
East country .
 MASE team managed to score second place in HUNTER &
HUNTED competition which is a new initiative established
to encourage innovation and explore technological creativity
among school students based on a “ Build a robot
“ contest .The Hunter and Hunted initiative has been
recently launched by both the Arab Academy for Science &
Technology in collaboration with the British council in
Egypt .

DREAMS & TEAMS “ was another exciting event held at the Gezira
club to welcome Prince Andrew . The event was organized by the
British council in collaboration with the British Embassy . Our
students were so enthusiastic about the event as they had the chance
to meet Prince Andrew who discussed with them their goals ,wishes
and their ideas about potential challenges .

Another “ Dreams & Teams “ event was held at the school campus
aiming at using sports as a vehicle for developing citizenship skills in
young people aged 14_ 17 years .Nearly 100 students joined in sport _
games competition joyfully contesting and learning how to build team _
spirit among themselves ,leadership ,self _ esteem and self _
confidence .

MSE annual squash tournament has become an Arab school
tournament as the school has hosted players representing two sports
club from Jordan an Qatar . The tournament is part of MSE’s efforts to
promote sports activities in general and squash in particular among
students .
Motivated by the idea of promoting environmental awareness, the
school is launching a new programme dealing with the issue from
different perspective. The school main target for this academic
year ( 2007 _ 2008 ) is to encourage both parents and students in
playing a positive role in saving and protecting the environment .
