Biography Margarita Vikander has an extensive international background from three countries both as a scholar and a professor. She holds Ph.D. in Psychology of Artistic Presentation from Russia, and has just returned to Norway from Canada where she taught Choreography, Dance Theory and Dance Performance at Brock University in St.Catharines (Ontario). Her main research interests lie in the areas of Dance Psychology, Cross-Cultural Dance Studies and Dance Curriculum. At present she works as a dance pedagogue and choreographer at Levanger School of Fine and Performing Arts (Norway). Academic accomplishments: Margarita Vikander received her Ph.D. in 1984 at the Leningrad University (Russia). The topic of her Doctoral dissertation was “Psychological Aspects of the Individual Performing Style”. Since than she published over 55 research papers, mainly in the areas of Psychology and Cross-Cultural Studies, and participated in more than 30 National and International conferences and congresses. For more than 20 years she taught at the universities in Russia and Canada, holding positions both of Assistant and Associate Professor. Dr. Vikander is often invited as a guest lecturer by the universities in Europe, and in the last few years she shared results of her research and artistic work with colleagues and students in Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, Germany, Russia and Iceland, as well as Canada. Artistic accomplishments: Dr. Vikander is the choreographer of more than 100 dance pieces in the genres of jazz, classical and contemporary ballet. Among her major choreographies there could be mentioned one-act ballets “Captured by Tchaikovsky” (2003), “Four Seasons” (2002, to the music of A.Vivaldi), “Peer Gynt” (2000, to the music of E.Grieg) and children’s ballet “Peter and the Wolf” (2002, to the music of S.Prokofjev), as well as musicals “Sircus Rabalder” (2000), “In the Dreamland” (2001), “Tor og Loke hos Jutnene” (2001),“Snow Quinn” (2002, an outdoor winter night show), “Oliver”(2003), and “Lussinatta”(1997-2003, 2006). “Captured by Tchaikovsky” and “Four Seasons” were performed both nationally and internationally. In 1997 Dr. Vikander was invited as a choreographer for the international milti-art project “Labyrinths”, which took place in Norway, and in 2003 she choreographed the Closing Concert of the Nordic Performing Arts Festival on Iceland.
