Voted: That the Harwich Municipal Traffic Code, Pedestrian Regulations adopted by the Board of Selectmen
February 22, 2011 are hereby further amended in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 85, Section 2 by
adding to Section 1, Schedule P-1, CROSSWALKS the following street locations for “Mid-block” crosswalks;
Orleans-Harwich Rd, Route 39 connecting the Old Colony Rail Trail, and
The validity of this order is contingent upon the conformance of signs and markings erected or used in
conformance with the standards prescribed by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, Highway
Division.
The CROSSWALK MARKING at Mid-block crosswalks shall be not less than six feet wide using Longitudinal
lines.
The Mid-block crosswalk shall be supported with the PEDESTRIAN (W11-2) sign (fluorescent yellow-green)
with an ARRROW (W16-7P) sign. The Mid-block crosswalk at Rail Trail crossings shall be supported with the
BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN (W11-15) sign (fluorescent yellow-green) with a TRAIL X-ING supplemental (W1115P) sign (fluorescent yellow-green).
The Mid-block crosswalk shall also be supported with advance notice warning signs preceding the crossing using
the Pedestrian (W11-2) sign (fluorescent yellow-green) and the AHEAD supplemental (W16-9P) sign
(fluorescent yellow-green). The crosswalk advance notice warning sign preceding Rail Trail crossings shall be
the Bicycle/Pedestrian (W11-15) sign (fluorescent yellow-green) and the AHEAD supplemental (W16-9P) sign
(fluorescent yellow-green).

VOTED:
That the Traffic Rules and Orders adopted by the Board of Selectmen July 1, 1940, and subsequent amendments
thereto, be and hereby amended in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 89, Section 9 of the General Laws
by adding to Article VII, Section 7-11B, Schedule 7-11B, YIELD SIGNS, the following streets are designated as
YIELD streets at the intersections and in the direction indicated:
Orleans-Harwich Rd, Route 39, both directions at the Old Colony Rail Trail crosswalk, and
The YIELD regulation shall be supported with a YIELD HERE TO PEDESTRIANS (R1-5) sign and a YIELD
LINE consisting of a row of solid white isosceles triangles pointing toward approaching vehicles extending
across approach lanes to indicate the point at which the yield is required to be made in accordance with the
standards of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Section 3B-16.
