Fluorescent chemosensors and related functional materials,
functional nucleic acids, aggregation induced emission.
Rhodamine-based fluorescent dyes have received increasing interest in recent years by
virtue of their low cost, long-wavelength (>500 nm) absorption/emission, high molar
absorption coefficient and quantum yield. It is well-known that many derivatives of
rhodamine undergo equilibrium between spirocyclic and ring-open forms, and the two
forms always behave with completely different fluorescent properties. Based on this ideal
model, we have designed several light “off-on” switch sensors for metal ions and anions.
On the other hand, easy synthesis, good fatigue resistance, reversible light conversion, and
long-lifetime photoresponsive molecules are highly demanded due to their potential
application in developing molecular switches, molecular logic gates, optical data storage,
optoelectronic devices, photoresponsive supramolecular self-assembly, photocontrollable
drug or ion delivery, photocontrolable biological processes and molecular machines.
