Sixth Form Results 2010 Excitement today as the Sixth Form results are collected at Chesham Park Community College – another year of improved results! Chesham Park Community College is continuing to raise standards as the A Level results achieved by students this year show. For the fourth year in a row the results have improved. The overall A Level pass rate (grades A-E) for Y13 A Level examinations is 95.5% up 2% from last year. The average point score per candidate has increased over 27 points to 583 points. Likewise there has been a similar success with the one year BTEC Business course. These students have achieved excellent results with ten merits being awarded. Chesham Park Community College prides itself on its determination to admit all students into the Sixth Form who would benefit from further education. This year there were forty Y13 students. Thirty of these students hope to progress to university or to higher education, e.g. studying Geography at Aberdeen, History at Bath and Computing at Bucks New University. Mr Kevin Patrick, Headteacher of the College, commented: ‘All of our students should be congratulated upon achieving these A Level and BTEC results. We are delighted to be celebrating this well earned success with the Sixth Form students. The many talented students that we have at the College have worked hard to achieve these grades. This underlines the commitment of students and staff. Amongst the students with a lot to celebrate are: Sophie Gilbert should be proud of her three ‘A’ grades Geography, Sociology and Business. Sophie is hoping to read Business Administration at Bath university. Simon Pagden achieved ‘A’ grades in Maths and Physics and a ‘C’ grade in Music Technology and is hoping to attend Leeds University to study Physics. Fakhra Butt achieved three ‘B’ grades in Business, Psychology and Photography. Fakhra is hopefully going to be studying Psychology at Brunel. Georgina Cope achieved two ’B’ grades and a ‘C’ grade in English Literature, Photography and History. Georgina has applied to Plymouth to continue her studies. Anam Haq achieved two ‘B’ grades in History and Psychology and a ‘C’ grade in English Literature and has applied to Brunel to study Psychology. The Sixth Form at Chesham Park continues to grow and there are wider opportunities for both traditional A Levels and vocational courses. There are more than twenty-two different courses offered in the Sixth Form. These include performing arts courses: Dance, Drama, Music and Media studies together with the more traditional courses. With a relatively small sixth form, students are nurtured and encouraged in small teaching groups to achieve their very best. This enables them to ensure that they achieve their full potential whatever their interests and aspirations. The enrolment for students who wish to join the Sixth Form at Chesham Park is 10am 1pm on Friday, 27 August. Applicants can alternatively contact the Head of Sixth Form, Mr P Miller, using email: pmiller@bucksgfl.org.uk
