Fundraising Support Intern
Voluntary – reasonable travel and lunch expenses paid
2 – 3 days per week - flexible hours
3 months minimum
Thames21 is the leading waterway charity in London. The charity is a vibrant and growing organisation
with 20 staff, with projects that are located across Greater London as well as offices in both Central and
east London. This small, dynamic charity has an opportunity for a vital voluntary member of the team.
This is exciting opportunity to join the fundraising team and help to develop and deliver new income
streams as well as assisting to manage existing supporter relationships. We are looking for an
enthusiastic and committed individual who will support the Fundraising Officer in delivering the
fundraising strategy.
Your role will include:
 Inspiring new supporters to raise money.
 Developing new and imaginative fundraising ideas.
 Raising awareness of the charity and its work, at both local and national level;
 Help organise fundraising events
 Increasing funds by researching and targeting charitable trusts whose criteria match the charity's
aims and activities
 Liaise with Thames21 staff
 Represent Thames21 in a professional manner at corporate presentations as well as community
events

Responsible to:
Fundraising Officer
Purpose of the job
To assist the Fundraising Officer with various duties as required, in the efficient running and
development of Thames21’s fundraising strategy.
Main duties and responsibilities







Inspiring new supporters to raise money.
Developing new and imaginative fundraising ideas.

Help organise fundraising events

Person Specification
Knowledge, skills and competencies:
Good organisational and administrative skills
Punctual and Reliable
IT literate, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
and (desirable) Publisher
Good interpersonal skills; confident with staff, volunteers at events
Creativity and a passion for engaging people with environmental issues
Think creatively
The ability to work alone
Experience in promotion and marketing
Knowledge and experience of engaging communities and volunteers
Experience of writing grant applications
Fundraising experience
Desirable




