April 20, 2014 Earth Month Earth Day is April 22nd. Our faith reminds us that Earth Day is but part of our everyday lives. In a January 2014 address to the Diplomatic Corps, Pope Francis said, "Finally, I wish to mention another threat to peace, which arises from the greedy exploitation of environmental resources. Even if 'nature is at our disposition', all too often we do not respect it or consider it a gracious gift which we must care for and set at the service of our brothers and sisters, including future generations.” Consider what actions you can take that are respectful of the earth. Use reusable containers for lunch or a reusable water bottle; unplug electronic devices that use power when turned off; take the St. Francis Pledge to Care for God’s Creation and the Poor at catholicclimatecovenant.org.
