After SMS Engine installation and setup the SMSwall.exe installation can be started. The
installation process is similar to smsengine.exe. The setup wizard can navigate the installation
process. When it is ready the service can start on the SMS Engine screen with pushing the
Start button. Then the SMS WALL will appear.
Users Guide
When the messages arrive, they appear on the wall. If somebody has sent an undesired
message, it can be deleted from the wall immediately in the following way: at the same time 5
messages appear on the wall. On upper right side of the projected wall there are five small
points. When you move the mouse cursor above one of the small point, the point will change
its shape, color and getting bigger. Every SMS message belongs to a point on the upper right
side. If you want to remove the undesired messages click on the proper point then the text and
phone number of the SMS will disappear.
Sometimes, the SMS Wall owner would like to contact with the SMS senders further on. For
example: would like to thank the last visiting and invite to the next party etc. The following
function helps to manage phone numbers. The sender phone number of incoming messages
can be automatically saved in a database. The database is stored in the Numbers. It is easy to
send new messages for the stored numbers.

the installation steps normally as if you were installing the program for the first time.
First installation steps
Make sure your GSM device is switched on.
Connect you phone to the standard RS-232 serial port of your
computer by using the connection cable. If you use infra red
connection activate the IR port on your computer and on your phone
and make sure the phone and the computer can communicate.
3. Exit all Windows programs.
4. Insert the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
5. Click the Windows START button.
6.
Select the Run command. The Run dialog box appears on the
screen. Type in the following command line: D:\setup
In the above command line, "D:\" is the CD-ROM drive
Click OK or press Enter. Wait while the system initializes Setup.

2.
Setting up the GSM device
In order for the SMS Engine to work properly the following settings should be made on the
mobile phone prior to installation:
- All the PIN codes and security locks should be switched off
- The voice and data calls should be redirected to another phone number
- Delete all SMS messages stored in the phone
- The SMS Service Center should be set
When all these settings are done, you should test your GSM device by sending and receiving
SMS messages manually.
Finding the Serial Port
The physical serial ports in the system are called COM1, COM2, etc. The Ozeki SMS Engine
communicates with the phones through one of these ports. If you attach your phone to the
computer via cable it is obvious which port the phone is connected to.
If the phone is connected through an infra red (IR) port, then you should find out which
traditional serial port is replaced by the IR port. This will be COM3, COM4 or one of the
other COM ports.

Sometimes the mobile device can be used through a different serial port, then the physical
serial port it is connected to. For example the Nokia Data suite driver creates a virtual COM
port and this virtual port should be specified for the connection in the Ozeki SMS Engine. (If
you connect a Nokia 6110 phone to the computer's COM2 serial port with the Nokia Data
suite package, you should set up the Ozeki SMS Engine to use COM3 or COM4 or COM5.)
In this case you can find the COM port in the Control Panel's System icon (Figure 1.)
Figure 1.
Installing the application
The Ozeki SMS Engine installation is similar to any Windows applications. You need to start
Setup.exe, and follow the on-screen instructions. When the installation completes, a short cut
can be found in the Windows start menu. Use this short cut to start the application.
Configuring the application
If the application is running, an icon appears on the left side of the taskbar (Figure 2.). When
you click on this icon, the SMS Engine program will appear on the screen.

The SMS Engine’s menu shows up with several options. The GSM device configuration form
can access from the Menu/Server/GSM Device1 Configuration.
In the GSM Device1 Configuration form, click on the GSM Device tab, then select the type
of GSM phone you have attached to the serial port of your computer. After this is done,
specify the serial port in the roll down window. This phone number is used as the outgoing
address in your SMS messages.
In the second part of the form the SMS operator name can be specified when you fill in the
text box.
One of the most important is the phone settings part. Enter the telephone number of the phone
attached to the computer. The number will appear on the right corner of the projected screen
and the users can send SMS messages for this number if they want to see their messages on
the SMS Wall. Important: every phone number should be entered in international
format e.g.: +36209937723

When this is done, don't forget to select your SMS Service Center phone number. The number
should also be entered in international format. The Service Center address is provided by your
GSM service provider. If you don’t know this number, check it in the Appendix B. If your
number is not indicated on the list, please ask the number from your operator. For example, in
Hungary you would select one of these numbers:
T-Mobile
Pannon GSM
Vodafone
+36309888000
+36209300099
+36709996500
Saving phone numbers automatically to the address book

Testing the connection
Start Hyper Terminal (You can find it in the following menu: Start
menu / Programs / Accessories / Communications)
When the connection description window pops up, enter a name for
the connection (e.g.: Ozeki test)
On the "Connect to" form select "Direct to COM1" to make direct
connection to the phone that is attached to port COM1. If your
phone is attached to a different port you should choose that port
instead of COM1. If you use Nokia Datasuite, select the virtual
communication port. If you use Infra Red communication, find out
the COM port number the IR port is using.
In the "COM1 Properties" window adjust port communication
properties. For most of the time 9600 bits per second connection
with (8, None, 1, Hardware) parameters will be ok. For Siemens
phones use 19200 bits per second.
After you click on OK, Hyper Terminal opens a connection to your
device
Enter AT and hit enter. If the modem replies with an OK message,
it means the connection is working.
Enter AT+CMGF=0. If the modem replies with an OK, your
device is capable of sending SMS messages. If AT+CMGF=0
results in an error message, you might have to turn off the PIN
code protection of your SIM card or your phone
RUN-TIME ERRORS

credits to send messages
Try to send a message from the device manually.
If other messages could be sent successfully, it is probable that
the GSM network could not accept your message. Possible
reason for this is that the network was overloaded.
