An exceptional opportunity has arisen to manage an Emergency Duty Team. We are looking for an
experienced Social Worker to provide leadership and professional supervision to a group of dedicated
staff providing out of hours social work services for Children and Adults across Somerset. This is an
opportunity to lead, manage and develop a high quality integrated children’s and adults social work
service operating out of hours. This includes safeguarding/child protection, services for looked after
children’s and for children in need and their families, as well as adult protection and AMHP duties.
Whilst some availability of out of hours is required, this is a day time appointment and the post holder
will be a member of the Social Care Management Team. You will need to demonstrate an
understanding of the interface between operational and strategic management in an adults and
children’s social care context and what is required of managers to operate effectively at this level. You
will operate with a significant amount of autonomy but will receive supervision from the Operational
Manager on a planned basis and as required for particularly complex or high risk situations.
You will need a professional Social Work qualification, with experience of staff supervision and
management. It is important you have the skills to manage and positively influence the development of
the team, along with a understanding of the Continuum of Need Thresholds and how to utilise these in
the decision making process. High levels of communication skills are essential as you will be expected
to liaise with children and families and adult service users, as well as a wide range of partners and
stakeholders both verbally and in writing.

The Somerset P2i (Pathway to Independence) project is an integrated delivery hub in each of the
district council areas, which enables young people seeking assistance with regard to housing issues
and homelessness to receive a seamless service from both the local district council and Somerset
County Council (SCC). The success of P2i relies on the multi-agency cooperation of all statutory and
partner agencies. The social worker is an essential and integral part of this team.
We are looking to fill this vacancy with a full time (37 hours) qualified social worker, ideally with
experience of working with children and young people in an operational or placement setting. The P2i
aspect of the post will be for 18.5 hours a week with the remainder of the 37 hours spent as an
Assessment Team Social Worker. You will work as part of the Mendip Children’s Social Care
Assessment Team, whilst forming and developing strong relationships with partner agencies and the
local hub. Based in Shepton Mallet, but covering the Mendip area, this post is open to both
experienced and newly qualified social workers (NQSW). NQSWs will be provided with support and
development opportunities under the Somerset County Council Assessed and Supported Year in

alongside a committed group of professional staff who deliver sensory services across the county.
The role will involve promoting the independence of people with sight loss by providing advice and oneto-one rehabilitation training in a variety of settings in a large rural area. You will need to have good
teaching and interpersonal skills, and be able to adapt strategies in order to meet individual needs and
outcomes.
You will be based in sensory teams, operating within generic Adult Social Care teams. Supervision
and good peer support will be provided.
A nationally recognised rehabilitation qualification is essential.

effective management of the organisation through delivery of strategic planning frameworks and
performance management arrangements whilst driving value for money and improving local
accountability. The team also has a key role in supporting corporate projects.

service delivery to work within the Networks specialism of the Technical Support Group, with a future
technical focus evolving in accordance with business requirements. You will work on an industrystandard blend of SLA-based reactive work (eg reviewing/resolving daily alerts and performing manual
checks; responding to faults and change requests, assessing and fulfilling incoming customer
requirements) and planned work within a structured environment (eg standards development;

You will join the team that supports Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s operational policing IT systems.
As an experienced engineer with a focus on applications implementation and support, you will have
responsibility for working closely with both technical infrastructure colleagues and system end-users to
ensure that Police systems are supported to high technical standards. Excellent communication will
need to be maintained with senior users, third party suppliers and customers alike.
You must have a high level of computer literacy, knowledge of large scale system architectures and be

The main purpose of this role is to act as a first point of contact for all members of the public attending
a Police Station/Post.
You will respond to a wide range of face to face and telephone enquiries and take details to create and

applicable) as well as lost and found property.

Sedgemoor District Council’s Information Systems Team is responsible for the in-house provision and
support of a wide range of ICT services to the Council and its customers (both internal and external).
Installation of the state of the art Modular Data Centre and Network Infrastructure has been completed
providing further foundations to support hosting of in-house and customer external systems. We are
now focusing on providing an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a background in software
engineering and experienced in software development techniques to work within our Solutions Team
alongside other Solution and Architect Officers.
This role will focus on the development, integration and support of in-house enterprise and supplier
based systems, enabling Sedgemoor to continue with its Best Value approach.
You should have the ability to work in a team environment as well as being a logical thinker. You
should also have good mathematical, verbal and written communication skills. Ideally, you will also
have experience of Revenues (Council Tax and Business Rates) and Housing Benefits business
processes as well as any other Business Systems. Experience of developing web and desktop based
software using an agile development methodology, supported by the Microsoft Toolset (ie. Visual
Studio and MS SQL) and/or Jbase or other mutli-dimensional environment is very desirable.
