This is an exciting scheme that provides assessment and support foster placements for parents and
their young children. The team has built up a good reputation over the last few years and continues to
develop its knowledge and practice in relation to parent and child placements and you will have the
opportunity to be part of this ongoing learning and development.
Ideally you will have direct experience in both Fostering and Children and Families social work.
The post involves supporting foster carers who provide intensive and challenging placements and
therefore you will need to be flexible and adaptable. You will supervise, support and review carers in
line with statutory requirements and present cases to Fostering Panel. As you will be working in a
dedicated team with a distinct role you will need to demonstrate an ability to work within a small team
and use initiative.

The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) is responsible for the oversight of individual cases of
allegations of abuse made against those who work with children.
Their role is to give advice and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations, liaise with the
Police and other agencies and monitor the progress of cases to ensure that they are dealt with as
quickly as possible, following a thorough and fair process.
We’re looking for someone who is organised, a team player, able to be proactive and use their
initiative, a good all-round communicator, customer focused and able to multi task.
You’ll be supporting the LADO by providing a proactive office based support undertaking administrative
tasks in a busy working environment. The nature of the work is sensitive, highly confidential and at
times, high profile.
There will be significant telephone contact with professionals so excellent communication skills are
required. You will be required to attend meetings regarding individual cases to record the discussions
and actions.

TDPC is one of the four Pupil Referral Units commissioned by Somerset County Council and Somerset
schools. We provide services through a number of centres. Deane Discovery Centre, in Blagdon Hill,
supports students in Key Stage 2 & 3 who have a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH)
needs. All students are referred through their mainstream schools in the Taunton Deane and West
Somerset area.
We are looking for someone with a wide range of skills; not only experienced in school administration
and basic finance, but also interested in young people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives
and learning. A working knowledge of SIMS, FMS or other information management systems is an
advantage. A sense of humour and an ability to work creatively are key skills. You will be expected to
have a flexible attitude to your work; the ability to deal with changing priorities, have sound
administrative skills and give attention to detail.

*CLERK TO GOVERNORS
The Governing Body, through its appointed and elected governors, plays a distinctive and essential
role in the continuing success and development of the school. The Clerk’s job is to work with the Chair
and other Governors, dealing with administrative matters for the Governing Body.
Central to this role is preparing for, taking notes at and producing minutes for meetings. Integrity and
the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. This position is available from January 2016 and
new clerks will receive full support and training.
The post will involve 10-12 hours work for each meeting and there will be six full Governing Body
meetings per year. Meetings will usually be held out of school hours and will last approximately 2
hours. The Clerk may be asked to take on additional paid work for meetings according to need.
