Consolidation games/ End of lesson games Oral activity 1. Think- Pair- Share: Students prepare what they , talk about it in pairs, share with the class 2. Charade sentences :Mime out a simple or complex sentence in Chinese 3. Memory: How many characters can you write or say? What characters are missing from the board –write it down or say it 4. Football: 2 teams ( named after the them of what is covered)Teacher asks questions based on a representative from each team to answer questions based on what was covered in the lesson. Student must press call the name of their team out before they are asked to answer the question. The correct answer gets to move closer to the gaol for their team 5. Swap sits: Ask a class member a question, if you agree with her answer swap sits with someone else. 6. Double circle activities ( 2 circles, each student facing a partner)Listen to each other-ask them questions about what they did. Tell them something that you did, check that they listen by asking you something. One circle moves to the next person on a clap signal. 7. Opinion meter: Students are asked what they think on a particular topic. Each student must indicate on their opinion meter if they; Agree, Disagree or don’t know. Peer or teacher ask them Why (wei shenme) students to justify answer in Chinese. 8. 3rd Place scenarios (involve 3 students, Chinese, Australian and friend) Pick a scenario from the 3rd place box and perform the role-play 9. Celebrity Character/ heads: Students guess the character/ famous person by asking questions 10. Stunt Actors: (groups of 3) 2 students act out a scenario while the other person’s back is turned after 5 secs that person turns around and decides what is happening according to topics covered e.g. clothing sport etc 11. Slide show: (Groups of 3) Class select topic, place etc according to what is covered in class. 2 person act out a scene after the count of 3 the other person turns around & describes what is happening in Chinese. 12. Freeze Tag: 2 students act out a scene using vocab and topics covered in class. 1 person leaves the room. After the 2 act for 30 secs the person enters the room and tags 1 of the actors out and replaces their place and acts out another scene. 13. Theatre sport: (2 groups of 3) students work together in teams to act out the nouns covered in class. Group that is most accurate and creative wins- peers & teacher to decide. Written Activity a. Noughts & Crosses (pairs) each person write 9 characters on a 0X grid (make sure you know the characters but don’t show the answers to your partner). Each pair plays 2 games. b. Mr Squiggle: Draw chx to pictures d. Chinese calligraphy e. Character practice f. Character writing competition: First person to complete a character correctly wins g. Character recognition competition: First person to recognise and use chx in sentence wins.
