Boeing Occupational and Aerospace Medicine Program office Physician Aplication *The Compensation* Base Salary - $180,000 - $220,000 Benefits - Full Commission Compensation - No Bonus Eligible - No Overtime Eligible - No Relocation Assistance Available - Yes Interview Travel Reimbursed - Yes The Boeing Occupational & Aerospace Medicine Program Office is supported by two senior physicians who provide expertise in Occupational and Aerospace Medicine for Boeing company-wide. The physicians providing oversight of the Boeing Occupational Health Examination program consult on matters of occupational medicine and risk communication, lead the Boeing's Human Subjects Review Board (IRB), and provide aerospace medicine consultation on aircraft and cabin environment issues. The physicians collaborate to provide program-level oversight and guidance for our occupational medical surveillance programs, including medical protocols, guidelines and procedures for occupational exams, and consultation on determining employee medical qualifications following occupational exams. They provide consultation on occupational health, provide expertise on company health and safety issues, and provide consultation in areas including occupational medicine, epidemiology, hearing conservation, vision testing, and health-related emergency response planning. Risk communication includes addressing employee concerns over hazardous exposures, and advising company management on approaches to address employee health concerns. Designs, conducts and analyzes medical research studies related to Occupational Health. Acts as the Occupational Medicine Residency Program Coordinator with sponsoring Universities for the curriculum for industry rotations of Occupational Medicine Residents. As chair of the Boeing Human Subjects Review Board (HSRB), collaborates with the HSRB administrator to review protocols involving human subjects research, to chair HSRB meetings, and to report on board activities. Aerospace Medical responsibilities include participating on Boeing Commercial Aircraft Cabin Environment Team, and serving as the Principle Investigator on cabin environment research projects. Research requires leadership to recruit research team members internally and externally to Boeing, develop research protocols, provide contract oversight with external researchers and facilities, and participating in all phases of Occupational and Aerospace Medical research projects. Additional Aerospace Medical responsibilities include providing medical advice to airline customers when requested to do so by Boeing, and representing Boeing at national and international aerospace medical association meetings such as the Aerospace Medical Association and The International Air Transport Association. Additionally, provides medical support as needed to other Boeing Medical functions such as International Health and Pre-Employment Medical Screening, as well as providing Occupational medical consultation to medical staff, along with other projects and duties as assigned. Competencies - Technical Aerospace Medicine Highly advanced/expert knowledge of aerospace medicine to guide the development of a company safety and health policy for flight operations. Ability to consult in the development of company policies and procedures regarding Aerospace medicine. Clinical Knowledge Highly advanced/expert knowledge of treatment of emergent and urgent care, such as; cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, major trauma, toxic exposure, major burns or other life threatening conditions. Knowledge of Medicine Highly advanced/expert knowledge and understanding of the principles of occupational and non-occupational medical conditions. Ability to provide, as a recognized industry expert, consultation on a variety of medical issues. Ability to provide unique and creative solutions and information on specialized areas as required. Medical Assessment Highly advanced/expert ability to assess existing or new medical conditions through the integration of the results of a clinical interview, medical history review, physical examination, and interpretation of laboratory tests and radiological examinations. Highly advance/expert ability to determine whether employees with medical conditions are fit for duty (i.e., fitness for duty evaluation, return to work evaluation). Highly, advance/expert ability to assign a working diagnosis, formulate differential diagnoses considering epidemiology, environmental and community characteristics, and synthesize collected data, clinical course and other pertinent data to a definitive diagnosis. Medical Confidentiality Highly advanced/expert knowledge of medical confidentiality policies and regulations including Custody and Control of Employee Medical Records Company-wide Procedure, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine guidelines, Health Information Portability Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other best practices. Ability to use this highly advance/expert knowledge to set company policy related to medical confidentiality issues. Medical Regulations Highly advanced/expert knowledge of state and federal regulations and related epidemiological, toxicological, and medical studies covering a wide array of topics. Ability to apply this understanding to develop company policies and procedures regarding occupational medicine. Occupational Health Highly advanced/expert knowledge of cause and effect relationships between workplace injuries, exposures (e.g., chemicals, physical agents) and disease. Highly advance/expert knowledge of toxicological principles including hazard identification and risk assessment. Highly advance/expert knowledge of OSHA record-keeping and Workers' Compensation Administration requirements as applicable to each state. Highly advance/expert knowledge of interactions between medical conditions and the workplace. Ability to use this highly advanced/expert knowledge to act as consultant to other Health Care Providers and contribute to the development of Boeing Occupational Health policies, practices and procedures. Typical Education and/or Experience: Technical bachelor's degree and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or a Master's degree with typically 18 or more years' or a PhD degree with typically 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study. Other job related information: MD (Doctor of Medicine) or DO (Doctor or Osteopathic Medicine). Board certified in Occupational Medicine.
