WCI SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD

Established Spring 2010
The WCI Scholar-Athlete Award is to be presented annually at the Waterloo
Collegiate Athletic Banquet to one (1) graduating student who meets the
following criteria:
CRITERIA
1. Is attending university studies in a field related to kinesiology or human
kinetics for the upcoming fall (September 2014)
2. Demonstrates outstanding achievement in University Biology and senior
Kinesiology course or Medical Science (currently coded as PSE 4UI)
3. Presents a minimum academic average of 80% in his/her Grade 11 and 12
courses
4. Demonstrates strong commitment to WCI’s athletic programme and/or
community sports
5. Demonstrates good citizenship and leadership
ADMINISTRATION OF THE AWARD
1. The amount of the award will initially be set at $400. This amount may be
increased in the future at the option of Waterloo Physiotherapy.
2. Open to any candidates who meet the criteria.
3. These potential candidates will be invited to complete an application form
which will then be forwarded to Waterloo Physiotherapy for selection of the
winner.
4. A member of Waterloo Physiotherapy will be invited to present the award
at the annual Athletic Banquet.
5. The WCI Scholar-Athlete Award will be jointly administered by the WCI
Head of Physical Education, WCI Director of Student Activities and
Waterloo Physiotherapy. If any part of the above procedures require
amendment, the WCI Head of Physical Education will consult with the
original team that worked on the establishment of this award (Scott
Speiran & Leslie Strickler - Heads of Physical Education, Craig Nickel Director of Student Activities and Antoine Varghese - Waterloo
Physiotherapy).
