KEY POINTS OF THE PRESENTATION 1) Identification of Non-Physician Practitioners 2) A discussion of common coverage/billing issues 3) Clarification of Medicare “Incident To” rules and how they affect billing and reimbursement About the Speakers: Michelle Bohley, RHIA, CCS, Senior Manager, Deloitte & Touche, LLP; Michele is a Specialist Leader with Deloitte & Touche with 30 years of experience in health information management (HIM), coding, data quality, and revenue cycle compliance. She has worked with academic medical centers, community hospitals, physician groups and hospice providing outpatient coding and billing evaluations. She has evaluated hospital data processes from registration through billing and served as Acting HIM Director for various institutions. Michele began her career in HIM in 1982 at an academic medical center as a coding/abstractor. She then continued her career through data quality roles. She has conducted coding and DRG audits and provided workshops and seminars on DRG assignments. In her role of Data Quality Manager at an academic medical center, Michele was responsible for ensuring optimal data quality and reimbursement for Medicare and New York State PPS. She has performed ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding audits and has taught ICD-9, CPT-4 and performance improvement classes. She has worked on PATH audits and interacted with the OIG at major teaching institutions and has been responsible for main audit and shadow audit functions. She has also been responsible for designing, delivering and maintain an electronic outpatient compliance monitoring system. Gordon Sanit, Director, Deloitte & Touche LLP; Gordon is a Director with Deloitte & Touche and has client leadership responsibility at several large health care providers in the Metro New York region. Gordon is a finance/regulatory specialist whose background includes over 32 years of directing and working on a broad range of health care projects. Gordon has extensive health care experience serving academic medical centers, community hospitals, governmental medical centers and other health care providers. His experience includes conducting audit and advisory services to acute and psychiatric hospitals, long-term care providers, physician practice plans, diagnostic and treatment centers, renal dialysis facilities and other health care governmental, providers and not-for-profit organizations.
