system was developed. Site also has a virtual library and an extensive
marine managed areas inventory.

Marine Region. Includes a list of current state MPAs and their
regulations, with maps sorted by county.
Web site for the World Commission on Protected Areas. Covers a

General information from the World Wildlife Federation about protected
areas worldwide. Outlines different types of marine ecoregions that are
protected, and contains links to additional information.
This web site is a great resource! MPA News is a newsletter on planning
and management of MPAs. MPA News serves the global MPA
community with news, views, analysis, and tips gathered from experts
around the world. Read and search all past and current issues, which
cover a wide range of topics related to MPAs.
Link to a very informative document entitled “Guidelines for Marine
Protected Areas,” put out by the World Commission on Protected Areas
of the ICUN (The World Conservation Union). Includes detailed
background information on MPAs, criteria for selection, and
management and planning of different MPAs.
