Dear Parent or Guardian, As part of the 7th Grade Music Curriculum, your student will have the opportunity to view the movie, Amadeus, in class. This film cleverly portrays the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his contemporary, Antonio Salieri, in competition with each other for the favor of Emperor Joseph, the 2nd. This Academy Award film (including best picture) is a vivid companion to our current study of the composers in the Classical Period. Please understand that the film has a rating of PG. The film shows the struggles musicians faced in their dependence on wealthy nobles of the time. Filled with music composed by Mozart, it showcases the brilliance of one of the world’s greatest composers. The students will have the opportunity to reflect on the qualities that make a person “great” and make comparisons with today’s musicians. Please sign the bottom portion of this letter and have your child return it to school. If you do not grant permission, there will be other work provided for your child to do in place of viewing the film. The permission slip must be completed and returned by _______________ for a graded assignment. Thank you for your continued support of the music program here at DBMS. Sincerely, Mrs. Susan Snyder Music Teacher, DBMS snyder@dboone.org (610) 689-6300, ext. 312 Cut here Student’s Name: ______________________________ _____ Yes, I grant my child permission to view the movie Amadeus _____ No, I do not grant my permission to view the movie Amadeus.
