Lesson Plan Probability of Independent and Dependent Events 4/13/09 Goal: To find the probability of independent and dependent events Prerequisite skills: 1. Students should be able to find the probability of simple events. 2. Students should be able to multiply fractions Objectives: 1. Students will be able to find the probability of independent and dependent events 2. Students will be able to know the difference between independent and dependent events Standard(s): 8-6.4 – Apply procedures to calculate the probability of two dependent events 8-6.5 – Interpret the probability for two dependent events. Materials: Powerpoint on probability Technology: Promethean Board Procedures: Teacher: 1. Fantastic 5 starter. Go over starter 2. Pull up powerpoint on probability 3. Ask “What probability means” 4. Show slide 2 on PP. Let students copy definitions. Walk around while they copy. 5. Go over the definition and example. Student: 1. Work on starter. Check answers. 2.
