English 2 Honors Semester 2 - Vocabulary Base words and root words are the building blocks of all words. The root is the most basic element of the word, and most roots in the English language can be traced back to Latin or Greek origin. The following roots appear in the literature and in standardized tests. Each root list will have a study guide which includes a word list with brief practice exercises. You will be given a test every 4 lists as indicated in the calendar. The study of roots is cumulative, so learn the roots and review them on-going for they will be included on the final semester 2 exam.
