Child Development Center at Israel Baptist Church Operation of The Child Development Center at Israel Baptist Church is the day-to-day work of Center Director, Patricia Mabry, a credentialed educator and administrator. At the request of Israel Baptist Church, IMI assumed responsibility for the Child Development Center at Israel Baptist Church (CDC or the Center) in January 2008. The CDC opened its doors in September 1998 offering a program designed to foster the total social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of preschool and school- age children. The Center provides a safe, nurturing environment and employs staff trained and certified in early child care subsidy program operated by the Government of the District of Columbia in 2001. Ninety five percent (95%) of the Center’s children are subsidized by the District of Columbia government. The CDC is recognized as a place where families with young children have access to a high-quality early care and education program and a model for other providers not only in the District of Columbia, but in the metropolitan area and nation. It is licensed to serve up to 24 children, 2.5 years to 5 years of age and 51 before and after-school children, ages 6 to 14. Working in partnership with families and with the community, the Center prepares children for success in school and in life. The Center operates 5 days a week, 11 hours a day, offering a high-quality, systematic preschool curriculum: the Scholastic Early Childhood Curriculum, which is approved by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, Office of Early Care and Education Administration (OSSE/ECEA). The Curriculum provides instruction in early language, reading, and math skills, allowing children to explore with teacher-directed instruction. In addition, the program addresses all areas of child development (cognitive, language, physical, and social). IMI attained national accreditation through the Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation for the Child Development Center in April of 2011.
