This workshop provides students with focused instruction in writing the types of essays most required
by colleges and standardized tests such as SAT, magnet school prep, etc. Students practice all steps in
the writing process to brainstorm, draft, and refine expository, evaluative, and argumentative essays.
Student produce polished prose which reflects their development as writers who have created texts for
a specific audience.

II. HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL MAGNET PREP
This prep class is designed and structured to help student pass the admission tests to the Magnet
schools in Montgomery county. This course covers math, verbal, essay writing and reading
comprehension. Also included are three practice tests that aim to enhance students’ test taking skills
and strategies.
