Directions- Create a Continent
Your project is to invent a continent of your own and then make a map of its physical
appearance. Be creative with the shape. Give your continent a theme and a name that
goes with that theme. Please use a sheet of poster board, which you will have to get on
your own.
Your project must have the following items:
-
10 different types of landforms accurately represented
Each landform labeled and given a name
A title
A map key with at least 5 symbols and their meanings which are also placed
on the map
A scale bar
At least three cities with names of your choosing
A compass rose
Your paper must explain how the physical geography of your continent has affected the
daily lives of its people. Explain how humans have adapted to the environment and how
the natural geography has impacted its human population.
The paper must:
- Be at least one page double-spaced
- Include an introduction of your continent
- Explain what landforms are found on
A half-way point check-in conference is required so we can discuss your progress.
This will count as a major project grade. Projects and papers should be completed and
turned in on Monday, September 26.
A rubric is provided on the back with a checklist you may use to make sure you have
included all elements on your map and in your paper.
Glue the rubric to the back of your project for grading.
