Simeon Tsolakidis is an external collaborator of the Laboratory of Modern Greek
Dialects at the University of Patras in Greece. He got his BA from the Department of
Philology of Aristotle University, Thessaloniki in 1992, MA in 1995 and PhD from the
Department of Linguistics of Aristotle University, Thessaloniki in 2002. From 2005 to
2007 he was a post doctoral fellow at the Department of Philology of the University of
Patras (“The Dialect of East Lesbos: Description and Analysis”. Greek Ministry of
Education: EPEAEK / Pythagoras II Program). His research interests are: 1) dialectology,
2) etymology, and 3) the Greek Perfect tense. His work is published in scientific journals
such as Journal of Educational Multimedia and Hypermedia and Ellinika, and conference
proceedings such as the Proceedings of the 24th International Congress for School
Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI2011) and Proceedings of the 3rd International
Conference of Modern Greek Dialects and Linguistic Theory (MGDLT3). His more
recent research focuses on the use of ICT in (bi)dialectal Education and on dialectal
etymology. He is the co-editor of and a contributor to the Proceedings of the Conference
“Schools of Education: their role in the challenges of modern era” (Limassol, 2930/4/2011), Nicosia: Frederick University, as well as a contributor to the recently
published volume Jimoyannis A. (ed.), Research on e-learning and ICT in education:
technological, pedagogical and instructional issues, New York: Springer. His is a
member of the Cyprus Pedagogical Association and the Cyprus Scientific Association for
the Integration of ICT in Education.
