Who were the first explorers? What amazing creatures did they first discover? Create a short fact file. 8. What is the largest wingspan for a predator bird? What about a Golden eagle? Is this the largest? Is there anything bigger? Record a selection of wing spans and think about how many of your hands would cover these! 13. Make an egg box crocodile. 4. Create a poem. Look at this: Silently circling, Watching with beady eyes, Ready to swoop, The hawk. 9. Owl Poo. 14. Use black paper and yellow/orange paint to create an African scene. Try adding some predators and prey! (lion/zebra) 15. Design and make an Orca (Killer Whale) using 2 paper plates! 18. What are whiskers used for? Why do animals have them? Make some and take a photo of yourself using the whiskers! Be creative! 19. 20. Explore animal patterns. Often they are used as camouflage. Create some wonderfully colourful ones! 22. What is a food 23. Trap Door chain? Can you make one? Maybe connect them with string to make a mobile? Spiders are scary things! Can you make a model of their burrow and maybe even add a spider lurking in it! A pellet (the correct name for owl poo) is full of the evidence about what it has eaten. What would you find in one of these? Do some research. Do you know anyone who has found one? 5. Create a short presentation on Venus flytraps. What are they? Where can you find them? What do they eat? How do they catch their prey? 10. How fast can you run 10 metres? What about 100 metres? Discover how fast some amazing predators can move! Try a cheetah, a peregrine falcon (this does not run!) or even a crocodile! How many miles in a Km? Or Km in a mile? Snakes! Made from cardboard with string/wool wrapped around it! Ssssssuper! 24. Create your own amazing idea based on the theme of ‘Predator!’ Could you come up with a unique idea? Have a go! There are 6 weeks in Term 3. Choose one activity per week. Record your work in your book and make sure you date and number every piece. Hand in your work as soon as it is ready and record it on the class chart. Each successfully completed home learning activity counts for the Reward Scheme. Remember some of these will count as 2 due to how long they will take to complete. See the class teacher about this.
