Ecology predator/prey relationships playing ‘it’ or ‘tig’ The class is divided up into predators and prey. To begin with there is only one predator and the rest of the class is prey. The predator has one minute to ‘tig’ as many prey as he/she can. After one minute assess how much the prey population has declined and how easy it was for the predator to get prey. Then allocate a number of predators within the class and repeat the exercise. Again, after a minute look at how many prey are left and point out that this number would have to be shared between the population of predators for them to survive. This exercise can either be used as a starter to clearly demonstrate that populations of both predators and prey are interdependent on one another or as a plenary to consolidate the theory of this concept.
