Patrick Credeur, Executive Director
“To provide our water and wastewater utility members with the highest quality of leadership, representation, and support services.”
March 18, 2014
Dear Members;
I would like to thank you for all the support you have given to the Louisiana Rural Water Association (LRWA)
over the past 36 years. As you know, our Energy Conservation Program is a state funded program which allows us
to assist your utility with leak detection, sewer infiltration surveys, water meter testing, etc. at no charge. These
state funds enable us to continue, as we have in the past, to furnish your community with free services, and in turn
allow your utility to utilize the money you would have spent on the surveys, on repairs to your system.
We do not want to be one of the Governor’s budget cuts!!!!
Our State Legislators have been generous to LRWA over the years in always providing funding, but we have to
make sure they have not forgotten how important this program is to your system. Therefore, I am asking you to
please write, phone or visit your State Legislators asking them not to forget about the Louisiana Rural Water
Association’s Rural Water Energy Conservation Program. To find your representative visit:
http://www.legis.la.gov/legis/FindMyLegislators.aspx. On the reverse side is a sample letter for your consideration, which
you may alter, or you may create a support letter using your own words. The sample letter is available for
download on our website at www.lrwa.org.
We ask that you please let us know via email at larwa@centurytel.net or fax (337) 738-5620 whom you have
written/spoken to and their response or comments.
If any Senator/Representative would like to speak with me concerning this program, my office number is (800)
256-2591.
As always we appreciate your assistance in this important matter!
Sincerely,
(See reverse side of this letter for sample letter)

Honorable Representative/Senator
Address
City, State, Zip
Dear Representative/Senator..,
As a member of the Louisiana Rural Water Association, I am writing to thank you for your generous support of
their Energy Conservation Program. The knowledge and support of their staff, as well as their technical assistance
is valuable to our system. When they arrive to offer assistance they come prepared with technical resources,
equipment and expertise to get the job done correctly the first time. This type of assistance is much needed by our
small rural water and wastewater systems. (The name of your system here) urges you to make every effort to
continue this valuable program through funding provided from the State’s General Fund.
This program provides services which are designed to reduce energy consumption and increase the efficiency of
operation by providing surveys such as; Leak Detection, Sewer Video Camera Surveying, Infiltration Smoke
Testing and Bench Testing of water meters. Important examples of what these surveys can do for a system is:
conserve one of our most precious resources, water; save much needed revenue, electrical power, manpower, and
make a safer environment for the entire community. Last fiscal year (July 2012 to June 2013) the LRWA Energy
Technicians performed over 829 on-site visits to water (548) and/or wastewater (281) systems. This includes 160
surveys, which consisted of 63 infiltration (smoke) surveys, 61 sewer video camera surveys, 20 water leak surveys
and 16 tests performed on water meters, along with 7 emergency water leak surveys for systems. They have saved
systems a total of 4,253,167 kilowatt hours and 14,524,562,507 BTU’s! The amount of money LRWA saved our
systems by performing these surveys is approximately $4,567,826. These savings enabled us to spend the money
towards the needed repairs. What a tremendous savings to our systems!!!
The (name of your system) would like to thank you for your kind support of Louisiana Rural Water Association
and their programs, especially the Energy Conservation Program. With their help rural water communities are able
to obtain professional assistance at no-charge for services, which would otherwise be extremely costly and possibly
detrimental to the system.
Louisiana Rural Water Association’s Executive Director, Patrick Credeur, will be in Baton Rouge during the 2014
session and if you would like to speak with him, you may contact him on his cell at (337) 230-8446.
Thank you again for your help in keeping the Louisiana Rural Water Energy Conservation Program funded and
protecting our natural resources.
Sincerely,
