Dear Members;
First I would like to thank you for all the support the Louisiana Rural Water Association (LRWA) has received
from you over the last 33 years. As you know, for our association to be able to assist your utility with leak
detection, sewer infiltration surveys, water meter testing, etc. at no charge we have to be able to receive state funds.
State funding enables us to continue to furnish your community these free services as we have in the past. We do
not want to be one of the Governor’s Budget cuts!!!!
With that said I need your assistance in contacting your State Legislator or State Senator and ask him/her to please
support/help LRWA to continue receiving state funding for the Rural Water Energy Conservation Program. As you
are aware this important program provides water leak detection, sewer infiltration surveys (smoke blowing of sewer
lines), water meter testing, sewer video camera work, water/wastewater rate structures and more. This program has
allowed your community to receive these services at no charge, which in turn allows your utility to utilize the
money you would have spent on the surveys, on repairs to the system.
Our State Legislators have been generous over the years to LRWA with always providing funding for this
important program and I am sure they will again this year, but we have to make sure they have not forgotten how
important this program is to your system. So I ask you to please write, phone or visit your State Legislator asking
them not to forget about the Louisiana Rural Water Association’s Rural Water Energy Conservation Program. To
find your representative visit: www.legis.state.la.us/district/zipcode.asp. We have provided a sample letter for your
consideration, which you may alter, or you may create a support letter using your own words. We ask that you
please let us know via email at larwa@centurytel.net or fax (337) 738-5620 whom you have written/spoken to
and their response or comments.

As a member of the Louisiana Rural Water Association, I am writing to thank you for your kind support of their programs.
One in particular is the Louisiana Rural Water Energy Conservation Program. Small communities such as ours depend on the
Louisiana Rural Water Association for their technical assistance daily. The knowledge and support of their staff is valuable to
our system. When they arrive to offer assistance they come prepared with technical resources, equipment and expertise to get
the job done correctly the first time. This type of assistance is much needed to our small rural water and wastewater systems.
(the name of your system here) urges you to make every effort to continue this worthwhile program through funding provided
from the State’s General Fund.
This program provides services to systems such as ours, which are designed to reduce energy consumption and increase the
efficiency of operation by providing the surveys such as; Leak Detection, Sewer Video Camera Surveying, Infiltration Smoke
Testing and Bench Testing of water meters. Important examples of what these surveys can do for a system is: conserve one of
our most precious resources, water; save much needed revenue, electrical power, manpower, and make a safer environment
for the entire community.

programs. With their help rural water communities are able to obtain professional assistance at no-charge for services, which
would otherwise be extremely costly and possibly detrimental to the system. Your support and consideration are greatly
