Aurora Health Care Foundation - Pledge to wear denim and show support for sexually abused women on Denim Day Boys and Girls Clubs: Year of the G.I.R.L. event - Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee provides safety, academic support, free meals and access to role models to more than 18,000 girls annually. The best way to support Club girls is to attend the Celebrating G.I.R.L.S event presented by U.S. Cellular on November 5, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at The Garage at the Harley-Davidson Museum. Independence First- Among other things, Independence First helps local women and individuals with disabilities find meaningful employment. Donations of used computer equipment allow people with disabilities who otherwise couldn’t afford to purchase a computer, the opportunity to develop useful employment and life skills to achieve their goals. Meta House - Meta House ends the generational cycle of addiction by healing women and strengthening families. Joy House at Milwaukee Rescue Mission - Volunteer to aid in the nursery at Joy House, which helps women and young children rebuild their lives. Through the New Life program at Joy House, you could help a young woman search for a job that would change her life. Mount Mary University’s Women’s Leadership Institute - The school’s Women’s Leadership Institute is shining light on important women’s issues in our community. You can support by investing in a new event, enhancing or attending an existing program or helping to create robust programming. Next Door - Donate to fund early elementary programs which provide local children and families with the skills they need, not just to get by, but to achieve sustainable success in school and in life. Pearls for Teen Girls - PEARLS is dedicated to improving the quality of life and strengthening our community one girl at a time by empowering young women. We seek to create meaningful relationships that add value to the lives of the volunteers and the girls. YOU can make a difference by: • Sponsoring a drive to collect items for programs or care packages • Ensuring an event runs smoothly through a one-time volunteer commitment • Engaging in College and Career Readiness programming as a coach or team support member Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee - Help rebuild greater Milwaukee by teaming up with an organization devoted to just that – providing affordable housing and revitalizing vulnerable neighborhoods throughout the Milwaukee and Waukesha counties – free of charge. Salvation Army of Milwaukee County - You may not consider yourself a “celebrity,” but consider lending your connections to the Salvation Army’s “celebrity bell ringing day” in December 2015 at the Milwaukee Public Market. SHARP Literacy - SHARP engaged urban school children through the visual arts to help them become a capable and confident reader, writer, and researcher. Sojourner Family Peace Center- School Supply Drive: Each fall, Sojourner requests school supplies for families to give to children whose families seek their services. Your donation will provide school-aged children with the tools they need to succeed academically so that the abuse does not disrupt the school year. Susan G. Komen- Komen offers many opportunities to support in the fight against breast cancer, including walking and fundraising. Donate your old cell phones to The Women’s center of Waukesha, which keeps some for clients to use for emergencies and sends the rest to Shelter Alliance who pays for every phone sent in. The United Community Center - UCC Milwaukee provides support for women and girls of all ages on Milwaukee’s south side, and reaches a predominately Hispanic population. United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF) - Support the UPAF Notable Women, a donor affinity program designed to help fulfill the critical need for arts education to ensure that our next generation reaches its full potential. United Way of Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties - United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County is taking the lead in promoting healthy families: we want every child born ready to thrive. Since 2012, United Way has worked on reducing infant mortality and promoting opportunities for every baby to be born healthy. Together with our partners, we are committed to helping reach the community-wide goal to reduce Milwaukee’s overall infant mortality rate by 10% and the African American infant mortality rate by 15% by 2017. Walker’s Point Youth and Family Center - Donations of both time and money will help this organization empower mothers to become their “best selves” and support their families through the family support and empowerment program. Women’s Fund - Support this public foundation’s goal to raise funds to support strategic social change initiatives for women and girls. The Women’s fund is the only foundation in the greater Milwaukee area that focuses solely on this mission.
