Avoid getting the flu:
 Get a flu shot (free in Student Health Center)
 Wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
 Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
 Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
 Get enough rest. Maintain good nutrition and hydration.
If you have the flu:
How to recover from flu and prevent giving it to others:
 Get plenty of rest
 Most people with the flu will recover without needing to seek medical attention.
 Drink clear fluids (such as water, broth, sports drinks, electrolyte beverages for
infants) to keep from being dehydrated
 Cover your nose and mouth with a tissues when you cough or sneeze. If no tissue
is available, cover your cough by coughing or sneezing in your shoulder or elbow.
 Keep away from others as much as possible. This is to keep from making others
sick. Do not go to work or class while sick.
 Stay home for at least 24 hours after fever is gone, except to seek medical care or
for other necessities. (Fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing
medicine.)
