Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Try to avoid close contact with sick people. Get enough rest. Maintain good nutrition and hydration. If you have the flu: How to recover from flu and prevent giving it to others: Get plenty of rest Most people with the flu will recover without needing to seek medical attention. Drink clear fluids (such as water, broth, sports drinks, electrolyte beverages for infants) to keep from being dehydrated Cover your nose and mouth with a tissues when you cough or sneeze. If no tissue is available, cover your cough by coughing or sneezing in your shoulder or elbow. Keep away from others as much as possible. This is to keep from making others sick. Do not go to work or class while sick. Stay home for at least 24 hours after fever is gone, except to seek medical care or for other necessities.
