SARAH RODGERS* Director
Sarah is thrilled to be back at her favourite summer job. Sarah
began her career at Theatre Under the Stars appearing in
Thoroughly Modern Millie as Mrs. Meers and then went on to
direct for the next five seasons: Anything Goes; Music Man;
How to Succeed in Business Without ReallyTrying; Shrek the
Musical and now the delightful musical Hairspray. Next up:
Sarah will be directing: Smoke on the Mountain (Pacifi c
Theatre); The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (UBC); Off Leash (Fugue
Theatre); Dressing for a Wedding (Solo Collective), A Christmas
Carol Radio Play (Pacific Theatre) and Pride and Prejudice (Arts
Club Stanley Theatre). Sarah received her MFA from The
University of British Columbia.
JULIE TOMAINO* Choreographer
Happy to be back at TUTS with Sarah and Chris after working on
last season’s Shrek the Musical. Select credits: Crazy For You
(Gateway - Ovation Award & Jessie Richardson Award for
Outstanding Choreography), Chess (Theatre Sheridan), Saturday
Night Fever, On The Town, and Cabaret (Finger Lakes MT

CHRIS D. KING Music Director
Christopher King is so excited to be working on Hairspray as
Music Director and as Corny Collins. He has wanted to attempt
this challenge for a long time and is so happy that Hairspray is
the perfect show for it. This is his 6th show at TUTS as Music
Director and his 4th show as an actor. He was last seen on stage
as Reuben in Joseph (2002), and was Music Director for Shrek
the Musical last year. This May, he played The Baker in the wellreceived production of Into The Woods with Fighting Chance
Productions. He was nominated and has won several Ovation
Awards for his work and most recently he was nominated for
Best Music Direction for Crazy for You at Gateway Theatre.
Christopher was Music Director for Oklahoma (Studio 58),
Triumph of Love (UBC), and performed in Chariot Cities
(Vancouver Fringe) this last year. His original musical Shevil Mistress of Evil will have its professional debut this July at the
Toronto Fringe.
ALEN DOMINGUEZ Assistant Director
Alen is thrilled to be back at Malkin Bowl with such a wonderful
show and surrounded by such a talented group of performers.
He’s appeared on stage around town and lately has been
apprenticing under stylin’ director Sarah Rodgers. He is
incredibly grateful to her for yet another learning opportunity.
Previous AD credits: The Duchess for Ruby Slippers and How to
Succeed in Business… for TUTS. Alen holds a BFA from UBC.

KEVIN WOO Assistant Music Director
This is Kevin’s 16th season with TUTS and his 21st show with
the company! He studied clarinet at UBC out of high school and
has been performing with various theatre companies throughout
the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley since. Kevin’s favourite
part about TUTS is working with the fantastic people who have
become his family. Some of his favourite scores and shows:
West Side Story (RCMT, TUTS x2), Fiddler on The Roof (RCMT,
Footlight), The Story Of My Life (Best Friends Theatre Co-Op),
Shrek the Musical (Align, CSOPA, TUTS) and Crazy For You
(Gateway). Kevin would like to thank Chris King for all of the
great opportunities!

MICHELLE BARDACH - Dynamite
Michelle is a graduate of the Musical Theatre program at
Capilano University. Recent credits include Eponine in Les
Miserables (Chemainus), Hope Cladwell in Urinetown (Firehall),
Kate McGowan in Titanic (TUTS), and Star-To-Be in Annie
(RCMT). She won the 2012 Ovation Award for Outstanding
Supporting Actress for her role as Esther in Riverview High
(Entrance Theatre), and she was also awarded the 2012 Aida
Broadbent Award for her performance in Titanic. She is a CoFounder/Co-Producer of Springboard Theatre Productions. Up

HENRY BEASLEY - Brad
Henry is thrilled to be returning to Malkin Bowl for another
summer. A recipient of the 2013 Cheryl Hutcherson Newcomer
OVATION Award, Henry is a recent graduate of Capilano
University’s Musical Theatre program. Select credits include
Scene Change Fairy in Shrek the Musical (TUTS), Frankie Epps
in Parade (CMTP), Jack in Into The Woods (FCP) and Billy the
Gunslinger in the multi-Ovation Award winning Crazy For You
(Gateway). Many thanks to Sarah, Julie, and Chris, and much
love to Hannah.
GEORGIA BEATY - Prudy Pingleton/Gym Teacher/Matron
Georgia feels extremely privileged and excited to be performing
with Theatre Under the Stars this summer, alongside such a
wonderful cast, crew and creative team. She was last seen
playing a variety of characters in The Duchess (Ruby Slippers).
Other recent credits include: Anna in Iceland (Dirt Road
Productions/ Presentation House), Truance in Ketchup (Sum
Theatre Pull Festival) and Rita in Cocktails at Pam’s
(Staircase XI Theatre). Georgia is a graduate of UBC and the
Canadian National Voice Intensive.
LYNDSEY BRITTEN - Ensemble/Hooker #1/Cindy Watkins
Lyndsey is thrilled to be returning for another summer with
TUTS! She has an extensive background in dance training from
the Caulfi eld School of Dance. An aspiring choreographer,
Lyndsey has spent the past five years working with the students
of Gleneagle Secondary’s Musical Theatre program. Recent
performances include: Peter Pan/Three Blind Mice in Shrek the
Musical (TUTS), Folliest Dancer in Crazy For You (Gateway
Theatre) and Ensemble in My Fair Lady (RCMT). Special thanks
to Julie Tomaino, Chris King, and Sarah Rodgers for their

JOSH CHAMBERS - Duane/Ensemble
This is Josh’s fi rst show with TUTS and he is very excited to be
doing musical theatre with such an amazingly talented group of
people. Josh is currently enrolled in Studio 58 at Langara
College. He was born and raised in Richmond, BC. Josh is
looking forward to his fi rst non-school show. Many thanks to
the creative team!
BRIANNA CLARK - Ensemble
Brianna is thrilled to be back for another summer at TUTS! She
will be entering Grade 10 at Little Flower Academy and is also an
accomplished pianist. Favorite past performances include: The
King and I (Gateway), Music Man (TUTS), Joseph (RCMT),
Cinderella (Metro) and numerous Fraser Valley Gilbert & Sullivan
Society productions. She is also a member of ShowStoppers.
Brianna would like to give a huge thank you to the production
team for this amazing opportunity, and her family for their

DANIEL CURALLI - IQ
Daniel is ecstatic to be joining this year’s productions of
Hairspray! A BFA student at UBC, he is excited to share his
passion for music and performing. Previous credits have
included Sonny in Grease and Jesus in Godspell (Vancouver
College). He would like to thank the company and crew for all
their hard work and talent, especially Ted for just being
fantastic; Chris, Julie and Sarah for putting up with him, and his
family for their loving support. To God be the glory. Ladies and

SOPHIA CURALLI - Brenda/Ensemble
Sophia is always excited to ‘take the stage’ and her musical
theatre debut in Hairspray at TUTS is no exception! She has
spent over a decade competing and performing as a ballet and
contemporary dancer, most recently as a member of
CatchingART. A solo vocalist from the age of ten, she has
performed classical, jazz and contemporary music in
restaurants, churches and at gala events. She thanks God, her
teachers at Pro Art. for inspiration, her family and friends for
their guidance and support and the TUTS team for
believing in her. Live, Laugh, Love.
CECILLY DAY - Motormouth Maybelle
Cecilly is over the moon to be returning to Vancouver and
debuting on the TUTS stage as Motormouth Maybelle! Cecilly
has been coming to Theatre Under the Stars since she was a
little girl starting with Oklahoma in 1998. She is a graduate of the
University of Victoria theatre program. Past credits include:
The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Secret Garden (musical), The
Skin of Our Teeth, Miss Saigon, and Brigadoon. Thank you to
her family, the Phoenix, and all her friends near and far for your
support. She hopes you enjoy this amazing production of
Hairspray!
DAREN DYHENGCO - Cameraman/Ensemble
Daren is a recent graduate of the Musical Theatre program at
Capilano University. This is his debut at TUTS and he is very
excited to be part of this year’s production of Hairspray! You
may have also seen him in The Secret Garden as Albert and The
Good Person of Setzuan as Brother (Exit 22). He would like to
thank his teachers at Capilano University for guiding him for 3
years into becoming a better performer, and his family
and friends who are always there for him. Enjoy the show!
DUSTIN FREELAND* - Link Larkin
This is Dustin’s fi rst production with TUTS and he is so excited!
Select credits include Sgt. Benjamin Allan in The Zombie
Syndrome: on Death Island (The Virtual Stage), The
Provost/Tuba Player in Measure for Measure, Tom in Elizabeth
Rex (Bard on the Beach), Ali Hakim in Oklahoma! (RCMT),
Cornelius in Hello, Dolly! (RCMT), Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet
(Project X). Dustin has had the honour of being a part
Carousel TYP’s productions of Shakespearean Rhapsody and
Richard Scarry’s Busytown, which won a Jessie Richardson
Theatre award for Outstanding Production last year. Dustin has
also enjoyed teaching and assisting young artists at Bard on the
Beach’s Young Shakespeareans program as well as Carousel’s
drama classes for young people. Dustin is a graduate of Studio
58.
MARISA GOLD - Little Inez
Marisa Gold, a professional dancer, choreographer and
instructor, has a passion for all things soulful. Influenced by her
Canadian-African American roots, her artistry and creativity has
been featured at various local venues and events. She recently
played Rita Marley in Lovers of Marley, a local performance
produced by Vanessa Young. Marisa holds a BFA in Dance from
SFU, and when she is not performing she enjoys inspiring
young dancers to express themselves through movement.
Marisa is making her theatricaldebut as Little Inez and is excited
to be part of Hairspray!
TENANYE HAGLUND - Lorraine/Ensemble
Tenanye is so excited to be playing the part of Lorraine in the
TUTS production of Hairspray! She has been dancing since the
age of seven and is an avid performer in her school’s show
choir. This is her first show outside of high school and she is
happy that her theatre debut will be made in one of her favourite
musicals. Tenanye would like to thank her directors,
choreographer, and fellow cast mates for being such an amazing
team and making this a truly memorable summer. She hopes
you all enjoy the show and remember that ‘you can’t stop the
beat!’
RAYLENE HAREWOOD - Gilberta/Hooker #3/Ensemble
Raylene is thrilled to be making her debut at Theatre Under the
Stars as a part of Motormouth Maybelle’s ensemble in Hairspray.
She has had the pleasure of appearing as Little Inez in Rainbow
Stage’s 2011 production of Hairspray starring alongside George
Wendt. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Raylene moved to
Vancouver to pursue an acting career and is currently studying
at Studio 58. She would like to thank her family, friends and
teachers for all their love and support. Welcome to the Sixties!
NATHALIE JOYAL - Beatnik/Ensemble
Nathalie is thrilled to be making her TUTS debut in Hairspray!
She’s excited to be returning to the musical theatre stage,
appearing last spring as Duff y in Annie (RCMT). Nathalie trains
at Vanleena Dance Academy and Alida Vocal Studio. She would
like to thank her amazing teachers for inspiring her, with special
thanks to Chelsea Read for igniting her passion for musical
theatre. Nathalie has loved TUTS since she was a child,
so this is a real life dream come true. She would like to thank her
family for always supporting her dreams and many thanks to
Sarah, Chris and Julie for this opportunity.
CHRIS D. KING* - Corny Collins
Christopher is thrilled to be on stage again at TUTS. He was last
here 13 years ago in 2002 as Reuben in Joseph. In May, Chris
played The Baker in Fighting Chance Productions’ well-received
run of Into the Woods. His recent credits include: Truman in
Chariot Cities at the Vancouver Fringe and Norman Petty in
Buddy Holly at Chemainus Theatre. His new musical Shevil Mistress of Evil will be premiering this July at the Toronto
Fringe. Look for him conducting and music directing TheWizard
of Oz at the Gateway Theatre this December. Thank you to Julie
and Sarah for this opportunity!
DAVID LINDO-REID - Seaweed J Stubbs
David Lindo-Reid is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Music
Theatre Performance at Sheridan College in Ontario as an
international student from Kingston, Jamaica. David made his
first stage appearance as Maurice in Jamaica Junior Theatre’s
2009 production of Beauty & the Beast and continued
performing lead roles in their adaptations of Fame (2011), the
title role in Hercules (2012) and as the Mad Hatter in Alice:
the Musical (2013). Simultaneously, he was a principal member
of The Company Dance Theatre from 2010 - 2013. David is very
excited to be making his Canadian stage debut with TUTS!
GREG LIOW - Stooie/Boom Operator/Ensemble
Hairspray will mark Greg Liow’s third year in a row at TUTS. He
has performed locally in over a dozen productions both in
school and in the community. Notable credits include : Georg in
Spring Awakening (Fighting Chance), Shoemaker Elf in Shrek
the Musical (TUTS), Ensemble in Changing Minds (Awkward
Stage), 2013 recipient of the Most Promising Dancer Award in
How to Succeed (TUTS), and Snug in A Midsummer Night’s
Dream (Coastal City Ballet). This past year he trained at the
Canadian College of Performing Arts, and this fall, Greg will
further his studies at Sheridan College in their BFA in Musical
Theatre Program.
ELYSE MALOWAY - Amber Von Tussle
Elyse is shimmying with excitement to be part of Hairspray,
playing Amber Von Tussle. This is her first year with TUTS, but
you may recognize her from recent roles: Colin in The Secret
Garden or Marya in The Government Inspector (Exit 22). Elyse is
a graduate of the Musical Theatre program at Capilano
University and a long-time Hairspray fan. She would like to thank
her mum, Debbie, for being a constant source of
support, the entire TUTS team for their infi nite wisdom and
incredible energy, and Psy for his immortal
advice: “dress classy, dance cheesy”. Enjoy the show!
EMILY MATCHETTE - Lou Ann
Emily is thrilled to be taking part in her third production of
Hairspray! She started singing and dancing when she was 2
years old and has danced in Disneyland and on Princess
Cruises. Past shows include: Cat Lady in Legally Blonde (TUTS);
Donkey in Shrek the Musical (Lindbjerg Academy); Teen Fiona in
Shrek the Musical (Align Entertainment); Tanya in Changing
Minds (Awkward Stage); Mayzie in Seussical (Lindbjerg
Academy) and Pigtails in Oklahoma! (RCMT). This fall, Emily is
excited to be playing Sally Simpson in The Who’s Tommy in her
second year of the Musical Theatre program at Capilano
University.
GRACE NEWSON - Shelley
Grace is ecstatic to be making her Theatre Under the Stars debut
in Hairspray! Grace’s interest in musical theatre began when she
saw her fi rst musical on this very stage as a child, and had
always hoped to return someday as a performer. She is a
graduate of CCPA. Some favourite credits include Martha in
Spring Awakening, The Rocky Horror Show (FCP) and The
Addams Family (Align). You can see her next at the Fringe
Festival in The OC Musical as Marissa Cooper! Congrats to this
cast and crew for their incredibly hard work!
RYAN PURDY - Wilbur Turnblad
Wherever Ryan goes, milestones seem to abound. In recent
years Ryan has had the pleasure to be a part of RCMT’s 25th
anniversary production of Annie, playing Harold Ickes; Align
Entertainment’s inaugural production of Shrek the Musical,
playing Peter Pan; and of course TUTS’ exciting production of
Hairspray! In his ‘real’ life, Ryan is thrilled to be a part of the
team at Rocky Mountaineer who is celebrating their 25th season.
Who knows what the next big milestone will be, but Ryan can’t
wait. Congratulations TUTS!
BLAKE SARTIN - Fender
Blake is extremely excited about taking part in his fi rst
production of Hairspray as well as his debut at Theatre Under
The Stars. He has been singing in diff erent choirs since he was
10 and has just begun his education in the Musical Theatre
program at Capilano University. He would like to thank the
production team for all of their work towards putting on such a
great show, and his parents for their support. He is thrilled to be
playing Captain Walker in The Who’s Tommy during his second
year of the Musical Theatre program at Capilano University.
MELISSA SCIARRETTA - Ensemble
Melissa is thrilled to be back at TUTS this summer, having
performed previously in Bye Bye Birdie, The Music Man, and
Shrek the Musical. For the past 13 years, Melissa has trained in
ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary. She is currently a member of
Spotlight Dance Centre’s competitive group, and attends
Burnaby Mountain Secondary where she will be a grade 11
student in the fall. Melissa would like to thank Sarah, Chris and
Julie for the opportunity to be a part of Hairspray. Enjoy the
show!
NICOL SPINOLA - Tammy
Nicol is thrilled to be back on the TUTS stage as Tammy in
Hairspray! Select credits include: Thing 1 in Cat in the Hat
(Carousel Theatre); Winnie Tate in Annie Get Your Gun and
Pepper in Annie (Theatre Under the Stars); Connie in A Chorus
Line, as well as Joseph, West Side Story, Peter Pan, and 42nd
Street (RCMT); Jennie Strang in Emily (Gateway Theatre); and
Helga in Cabaret (URP). Nicol performed in the 2010 Winter
Olympic Opening Ceremonies and has been performing with
Disney Cruise Line for the past fi ve years. Special thanks to
Julie Tomaino. Thanks and love to Mom, Dad and everyone for
their support.
JENNIFER SURATOS - Dynamite
Jenn last appeared on the TUTS stage as Miss Jones in How to
Succeed in Business without Really Trying. Recent favourites
include the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods (FCP), Lady Thiang in
The King and I (Gateway), and Teacher/Reporter in Speech and
Debate (Twenty Something Theatre). She has performed
as a singing mermaid at the Richmond Maritime Festival, as a
musical lesbian in the short fi lm Same Boat, and as a Tina
Turner impersonator. Jenn holds a Master’s Degree in Theatre
Studies from UBC, where she also works as an Administrator in
the Faculty of Arts. Enjoy!
GRAEME THOMPSON - Flasher Next Door/Mr. Pinky/Mr. Spritzer
Graeme is making his Theatre Under the Stars debut after
graduating from Capilano University’s Acting for Stage and
Screen program in 2013. He hails from the ‘northest’ of shores,
and if you were further up north in Barkerville during the last two
summers, you may have seen him perform at Theatre Royal, or
as C3P0 in one of Geekenders’ Star Wars Burlesque
spectaculars, or more recently as Wheatley in Portal 2: an
Unauthorized Musical (Geekenders). He legitimately couldn’t be
happier to be fi nally performing his dream role of the “flasher
next door”; this one’s for you, Mom.
ANDY TOTH* - Edna Turnblad
Audiences may know Andy from his long engagement as Brian
in the smash hit Avenue Q (Arts Club Theatre). Other credits
include: The Fantasticks (Playhouse), The Full Monty (Patrick
Street), Debt the Musical (Firehall), Company (Arts Club),
Urinetown (Firehall), and even a stint as Edna in the 2012 Arts
Club production of Hairspray, stepping in for the irrepressible
Jay Brazeau. As director of the Pre-Professional Musical Theatre
Troupe at Arts Umbrella, Andy has directed Dear Edwina, Lucky
Stiff , Pippin, Little Women and the recent hit Bring It On, The
Musical. Love to Mary and Ben. This Edna’s for you, Jay!
ERIN E. WALKER - Tracy Turnblad
Erin hails from the Comox Valley, and has been involved with
theatre ever since she can remember. Since completing the
Capilano Musical Theatre program, she has been a part of
numerous productions as an actor, stage manager, director,
choreographer, board member (Pipedream Theatre), voice-over
artist, and makeup designer. Select theatre credits include Little
Sally in Urinetown (Vanier Players), Charles the Cat in Cinderella
(Exit 22), Maureen (understudy) in RENT (Fighting Chance), and
Norma in Carrie: The Musical (Fighting Chance). Erin would like
to thank her boyfriend, Ross, and her family for always telling
her to follow her dreams.
LINDSEY ALI WATSON - Dynamite
Ali is very happy to be back for her second summer performing
under the stars in Hairspray! She has just completed her 2nd
year in the Musical Theatre program at Capilano University and
is excited to be entering her third and fi nal year. Recent credits
include Rita in Lucky Stiff (Arbutus Studio) and Mama Bear
in Shrek the Musical (TUTS). She would like to give a huge thank
you to her teachers as well as her mom and stepdad for their
constant help and support. Thank you to the wonderful
directors, cast and crew for yet another amazing summer.

MICHAEL WILKINSON - Sketch
Michael returns to Vancouver and TUTS this summer after
completing his fi rst year in the theatre program at New York
University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Last summer, you may
have seen him as Pinocchio in Shrek the Musical and he is
happy to be back at Malkin Bowl, singing and dancing under the
expert direction of Julie, Chris, and Sarah. He would like to
thank the wonderful cast and crew for their hard work, and (as
always) his parents for their constant love and support. When
not onstage, Michael enjoys pizza, peanut butter, and food in
general.
HANNAH WILLIAMS - Penny Pingleton
Hannah is a graduate of the Musical Theatre program at
Capilano University. Past credits include Courtesan Ancestor in
The Addams Family (Align), Ensemble, U/S Joanne in RENT
(Flourishing Age Entertainment), Whitney/Delta Nu in Legally
Blonde (TUTS), Kitty in The Drowsy Chaperone and Agnes in
Dancing at Lughnasa (Exit 22). Hannah has had a blast working
on Hairspray and hopes you enjoy the show as much as she
does! Special thanks to the cast and crew for such a memorable
experience and to Essie, for everything else!
ELISE WILSON - Hooker #2/Ensemble
Elise is thrilled to be a part of the Hairspray cast! Last year, she
made her TUTS debut in Shrek the Musical. Other credits include
Agnes in Agnes Under the Big Top, Grace Farrell in Annie,
Pinocchio in Pinocchio Del Arte, and Cha Cha in Grease. Elise is
a graduate of the Douglas College Theatre Program and is
looking forward to attending the Music Theatre Performance
Program at Sheridan College in the fall. Elise would like to thank
Sarah, Julie and Chris for this fantastic opportunity and her
wonderful parents for all their support. Enjoy the show!
LORI ASHTON ZONDAG* Velma Von Tussle
This is Lori’s 3rd show with TUTS after Singin’ in the Rain as
Zelda Zanders (2010), and in Bye Bye Birdie as Doris MacAfee
(2011). Since moving to Vancouver from Los Angeles in 2009,
Lori’s main focus has been being a mom to her two great kids,
Tristan and Skyler. She’s taught musical theatre classes on the
North Shore and manages to sing, dance and act wherever she
can: Richmond Centre Christmas Flashmob, UBC Lipdub, Adult
Competition Dance Class at North Shore Academy of Dancing.
In her “pre-children” life she toured the U.S. with Will Roger’s
Follies, A Chorus Line, and in 2008, an original children’s show
she co-created called, Lori, Lori, What’s the Story? TV credits
include: Baywatch, Matlock, Days of Our Lives, General
Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful.
