Job Description of the Community and Events Fundraiser
The Eric Liddell Centre is a major community resource in a prime position in
Morningside/Bruntsfield, Edinburgh. The Centre offers specialist services for older
people in addition to offering flexible space for use by the local community either for
one off activities or by providing tenanted space to small voluntary organisations.
As a member of the Senior Management Team the post holder will manage all
aspects of community and events fundraising to meet income targets as required by
the Eric Liddell Centre’s (ELC) Business Plan and long term strategic aims.
The Community Events Fundraiser reports to the Chief Executive.
Responsibilities
o Develop new fundraising events and maintain successful existing events in
conjunction with the Fundraising Committee
o Develop new enterprises
o Develop current enterprises to maximise revenue
o Ensure that all volunteers are appropriately motivated, managed and
supported in their roles to deliver satisfactory customer service
o Develop relationships with organisations such as the Community Councils,
local traders, Edinburgh Napier University, schools and churches to support
delivery of mutually beneficial community events
o Develop and maintain accurate records as instructed by the Finance
Department
o Ensure all monies collected from the café & enterprises are safely stored &
recorded & tills are reconciled.
o Support the growth of a community of supporters including Members, Friends
and contacts through Facebook and Twitter.
o Develop and support the Friends and membership of the ELC to become a
dynamic and effective group of volunteers and fundraisers
o Provide information and reports and attend meetings as required
o Any other reasonable duties as required by the CEO

A detailed plan for fundraising events to meet Business Plan requirements
Achieve annual targets
Marketing / fundraising materials are developed and maintained using the
corporate image appropriately
All activities meet the requirements of relevant legislation and codes of
practice.
You will be expected to work closely with the Trusts and Corporate Fundraiser
Essential and Desirable Attributes
 Demonstrate enthusiam and motivation for the delivery of quality fundraising
events and activities.
 Enjoy working with local people and helping them to make a difference
through volunteering.
 Have evidence-based experience of fundraising in local communities through
positive engagement with local supporters and stakeholders.
 Provide evidence of planning and implementing fundraising events.
Terms and Conditions
Salary: Circa £22,000 pro rata (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Circa 22.5 hours per week (to be finalised on appointment)
working flexibly over 5 days
Annual leave entitlement: - 26 days plus 4 public holidays (pro rata)
Notice period – 3 months
Probationary period: 6 months
Disclosure check: Enhanced
