LEADERSHIP SEACOAST RECEIVES CONTINUED SUPPORT
FROM UNITIL CORPORATION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------Utility Company Recognizes Seacoast Organization’s Effort to Maintain Environmental
Dialogue
PORTSMOUTH, N.H., April 5, 2010 -- Leadership Seacoast, a non-profit organization
that positively impacts Seacoast communities through the development of capable
leaders, received a $500 program day sponsorship from perennial partner Unitil
Corporation in support of Leadership Seacoast’s Environment Day to be held on April
14, 2010 at the Science and Nature Center within Florida Power and Light’s Seabrook
Station in Seabrook, New Hampshire.
The sixth session of an eight part series, Environment Day will give the thirtyfour person class an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at a nuclear reactor plant
and gain awareness of what goes into providing energy, learn about the thriving
ecosystem surrounding the power plant and continue dialogue between community
leaders about the ever-delicate balance between environmental preservation and
stewardship and energy development and delivery.
Unitil Corporation’s long-time support for this dialogue furthers its effort to
ensure that small and local community needs are met. Both Unitil and Leadership
Seacoast recognize the high quality of life on the New Hampshire seacoast and the need
for these communities to thrive while remaining conscious of continuing environmental
concerns.
“Leadership Seacoast’s dedication to ongoing development and valuable learning
experiences is evident in the rich culture we enjoy as a part of this community,” said
Carol Valianti, Unitil’s vice president of communications and public affairs. “It’s
important to all of us at Unitil that we continue to contribute to these efforts and we’re
proud to support Leadership Seacoast, working together to make our community a better
place.”
With help from corporations like Unitil, Leadership Seacoast is able to continue
its mission to provide the greater Seacoast community with knowledgeable leaders who
value a diversity of opinions. The program allows a broad base of participants to expand
their awareness of community challenges and practices as class members learn consensus
building and work to find effective solutions. In addition to Unitil Corporation,
Leadership Seacoast would like to extend special thanks to Program Year sponsors
Cambridge Bank and Trust and Liberty Mutual; Program Day sponsors, Centrix Bank,
McLane, Graf, Raulerson and Middleton, Ocean Bank, RiverWoods at Exeter, Seacoast
Asset Management, and The Provident Bank; and Community Sponsors Federal Savings
Bank, Optima Bank, Piscataqua Savings and Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
