CHURCH DECORATIONS: The holiday season will be here soon. We are looking for someone or several people to help
decorate the church for the Holidays. If you (or you know of someone) would be interested in decorating our beautiful church
for the holidays, please contact the parish office (747-2091).

OTHER EVENTS/NEWS:
FOOD PANTRY: We delivered 6 sacks of food items to the West Central Community Action Food Pantry this week.
Thank You to everyone who donated items this month.
ECUMENICAL SERVICE – you are invited to a Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service on Tuesday,November 24, at 7:00 PM in
the Defiance Methodist Church. Father Dolan and the pastor will celebrate this service together. The second collection will be
taken for the Food Pantry.
ST. PETER’S COUNTRY FEST featuring Maiden Dixie and Brad Morgan, is Saturday, November 28, at St. Peter’s Hall in
Defiance. Maiden Dixie is an exuberant country rock band from St, Paul, MN. They have opened for several national acts like
Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert. Doors open at 6:00 PM, Brad Morgan begins at 7:00 PM with Maiden Dixie to follow.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are available now at all Shelby County banks, Bank Iowa, United Bank
of Iowa, 1st National Bank of Manning, Farmers Trust & Savings, Defiance State Bank.
HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA: St. Rose of Lima Parish in Denison is having their Annual Holiday Extravaganza at St. Rose
of Lima Parish Center in Denison on Saturday, December 5, from 8:00 AM to Noon. Homemade Cookie & Candy Sale. Select
your favorites from an array of over 70 different types of cookies and candy. Goodies are sold by the pound. There will also be
a variety of party vendors to help with your shopping for Christmas gifts. See flyer on bulletin boards in church for more info.
SHELBY COUNTY CATHOLIC SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM with students in grades K-6 will be presented Monday,
December 7, at 7:00 PM in the school gym. All are invited. Come help us celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and Jesus is
the Reason for the Season. There will be singing, dancing, and a possible appearance of Santa Claus. St. Michael’s Church is
having Mass at 5:30 PM for the Immaculate Conception of Mary Holy Day if you would like to attend this Mass and then come
to the program. Children are asked to go to their classrooms between 6:45-6:55 PM in preparation for the Christmas program.
SANTA IS COMING – for all ages! The jolly little gentleman will make an appearance on Sunday, December 13, at Noon at
St. Peter’s Hall in Defiance. Religious Education students will be serving soup and sandwiches from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Free
Will donation welcome. Christmas Cookie/Candy will also be available to purchase from 11:00-1:00PM. The Cookie/Candy
Walk containers can be purchased from $5 to $10 with you choosing your favorites. Come satisfy your sweet tooth.
MSGR. CHIODO will lead a Pilgrimage in the Footsteps of St. Junipero Serra. When: April 11-20, 2016. What: Tour
the different Missions that St. Junipero Serra helped found in California. There will be an informational meeting with power
Point on Sunday, December 13, at 5:00 PM in the lower church at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Des Moines.
11TH ANNUAL DUNLAP CHRISTMAS CAROLING FESTIVITIES – Thursday, December 17, at the Dunlap Nursing and
Rehab Center - Arrive at 6:15 PM and perform at 6:30 PM. You are invited to help promote holiday cheer to the elderly and
Caregivers. It is very rewarding; everyone will benefit from the festivities. Music books/refreshments for all participates will be
served in the chapel area and flowers for the residents.
SUPPORT ELDERLY RELIGIOUS – A parishioner writes “As a Catholic school student from grades K-12, I was formed to
be the person I am by many religious brothers and sisters, and I am forever grateful.” Show your appreciation for the senior
Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests who made a positive difference in so many lives. Please give generously to
the upcoming collection (in December) for the Retirement Fund for Religious.
MANY POOR FAMILIES IN CENTRAL AMERICA huddle together in the dark of night because no electricity is available.
The Shelby County Nicaragua Partners have selected the next two communities in Nicaragua to offer solar panels to families
without electricity. Consider giving a gift of solar power in your loved one's name this Christmas or consider donating what you
can to help fund this project. Solar gift cards will be available in the back of church the next two weekends or you can pick them
up at the parish office.
GO FUND ME FOR OUR SISTER PARISH - There is a Go Fund Me account set up for our Nicaragua solar panel project at

THANK YOU: The Family of Albert Frederick would like to thank everyone for all the acts of kindness shown to us the past
several weeks. A big thank you to the staff at Little Flower Haven for their loving care given to Dad during his stay. Also,
thank you to Father Frost, Father Dolan, Myrtue Memorial Hospital, Shelby County Hospice and Pauley Jones Funeral Home for
your compassion shown to us at this time. Thank you to the vocalists and pianist for the beautiful music and to Wendy and the
parish group for the great lunch. In lieu of thank you’s, a donation will be made to our favorite charities.
