MEDIA ACCREDITATION

Thank you for your interest in the 2009 BT Paralympic World Cup staged in
Manchester, England from 20-25 May.
The event is the biggest annual multi-sport competition for elite athletes with a
disability and the six-day competition will once again take place at three iconic
city venues: The Manchester Velodrome, The Manchester Aquatics Centre
and The Manchester Regional Arena.
Wheelchair Basketball takes place at the Manchester Regional Arena from
20-23 May, with four men’s and four women’s international teams competing
in a pools-style competition.
Athletics will take place at the Regional Arena on 24 May, with international
athletes competing in the afternoon event.
The Track Cycling programme is extended to two and a half days this year,
taking place from Wednesday 20 May to Friday 22 May.
The Swimming sessions are again held over two days, on 24 and 25 May,
which incorporates the staging of the International Open Event* on Sunday,
with the BT Paralympic World Cup finals taking place on Monday afternoon
during the BBC’s live broadcast coverage of the event.
Please find attached basic information about the accreditation application
process, media services and accommodation. Please read the following

LETTER OF AUTHENTICATION
All international media applying for accreditation at the BT Paralympic World
Cup will require a letter of authentication from their National Paralympic
Committee to verify their status as a journalist or photographer with an interest
in elite disability sport. Your National Paralympic Committee has been notified
of this procedure.
ACCREDITATION PROCESS AND TIMELINES
Applications for media accreditation must be made exclusively using this form.
A Letter of Authentication must also be included in order for your application

Once the media accreditation application form and letter of authentication
have been received by the BT Paralympic World Cup Media Office, your
application will be processed and confirmation of acceptance will be sent out
by email. Please note media accreditation will not be issued via post but will
be available for collection in person from the Victoria and Albert Marriot Hotel,
Manchester, United Kingdom, from Tuesday 19 May 2009.
Please note: The event organisers will not assist in arranging visas for
visiting journalists and photographers.

ACCOMMODATION
The Event Headquarters are located at the Victoria and Albert Marriot Hotel in
Manchester City Centre. Accommodation at this hotel is limited. Please

All media accreditation will need to be collected from the Accreditation Desk
within the Media Centre at the Victoria & Albert Marriot Hotel. Media work
areas will be available with access to fax and photocopying facilities. A limited
number of phone lines and computer terminals will be available for use.
A representative from the BT Paralympic World Cup Media Team will be
available to answer queries on the day.
Telecommunications
A limited number of external phone lines will be available for use by the Media
at both the main Media Operations Centre and in the event specific media
areas. Free wireless internet access will be available at the event venues to
accredited media, via BT.
Event Specific Media Areas
An event specific Media Area will be available at each venue to provide
access to results, information and light refreshments.
Free wireless internet access will be available to accredited media via BT and
press tribunes and communication systems will also be available (for more
information please see the Telecommunications section listed below).
A representative from the BT Paralympic World Cup Media Team will be
available to answer queries on the day.
Television Broadcasting
The BBC is the host broadcaster to the BT Paralympic World Cup and will be
broadcasting live from the Manchester Aquatics Centre on Monday 25 May.

The objectives of the International Open sessions will be as follows:



To provide additional competitive opportunity for BT Paralympic
World Cup invited athletes
To provide a tangible focus for showcasing the developmental
legacy of the BT Paralympic World Cup
To provide a competitive opportunity for emerging talent from
Great Britain and overseas.
The above competition will take place on Sunday 24 May. The BT Paralympic
World Cup finals will take place on Monday 25 May.
A limited number of tickets are also on sale for the International Open to the
general public.

FILMING AT BT PARALYMPIC WORLD CUP 2009
FILMING

Strictly no live action of the meeting is to be filmed or interviews
broadcast whilst the BBC is on air

Access for rights-holding overseas broadcasters will be arranged on a
case by case basis, please liaise with the BBC directly over rights

The standard locations for filming at the event are the Press
Conference Area and non-BBC TV mixed zones where provided. We
respectfully request that you remain in these areas at all times. You
may also film outside the official event venues

Please ensure at all times that your crew do not obstruct or hinder the
BBC cameras.
I agree to the Terms and Conditions for accreditation to the BT
Paralympic World Cup in 2009. I accept that non-compliance of these
Terms and Conditions will result in accreditation being withdrawn and
accreditation being refused for all future events.
