Mona Lisa Painted by Leonardo Da Vinci in Florence (1503-1506). Mona Lisa is also known as La Gioconda , the wife of Francesco del Giocondo. The painting is amongst one of the most popular painting from the Renaissance period. It is currently housed at Musee du Louvre in Paris. It is now considered to be one of the prototypes for Renaissance portrait. Sfumato style An Italian word which means to “tone down” or to “elaborate like smoke”. The term is used most often to describe Da Vinci’s work. These types of drawings have no definite border lines, but use the contrast of light and dark instead.
