Teaching notes How to use this resource This resource, Laptop wrap: Advertising, is designed to support the Digital Education Revolution – NSW (DER-NSW) program. The resources and tasks are aimed at supporting student use of the DER-NSW laptops in both online and offline classroom environments. If you have difficulty viewing this resource on the DER-NSW laptop screens you can switch your web browser to full screen mode. With your web browser open, press F11 to switch between normal and full screen mode. Students have the opportunity to compose an advertising campaign for a new product and make display advertisements, a radio advertisement and a TV commercial. Explore Students explore the resource, Visual Odyssey that examines TV advertising and persuasive techniques. It features 11 TV commercials for students to respond to. The resource Ad Campaign: Celebrity fundraiser examines how advertising campaigns are designed. Your tasks Students plan, design and produce: an advertising campaign for a new product. display advertisements a radio advertisement a TV commercial. Students do not necessarily have to complete all of the tasks nor do the tasks individually. It may be more appropriate to organise student into groups, each group doing a different type of ad (display, radio, TV). Student could all complete Task 1 to design an advertising 1 © NSW DET 2011 campaign and the best one is chosen from which all students create an ad. The tasks are designed so that their use can be customised to meet the needs of the class.
