Introduction:
This hotfix is created to fix the following five issues referenced under the “Issue Fixed” section.
Issues fixed:
TECH164591 – All files of the Child NS are replicated to the Parent NS
Problem/Symptoms:
In hierarchy and replication scenario, it was observed that after replication child files were
replicated to parent. The reason being some of the Inventory replication rules were
corrupted and hence during the replication all the file resources were replicated up the
hierarchy.
TECH162729 – User is unable to create any Inventory Policies
Problem/Symptoms:
It has been observed that if the custom menu creation items (like creation of new policy) are
not present in the config file. The related items are removed from the database. Hence we
added those items in this particular hotfix to fix that issue.
TECH164736 – Software Components that are moved to Unmanaged Software re-appear in
Newly Discovered Software after the Nightly task runs
Problem/Symptoms:
Software Components that are moved to Unmanaged Software re-appear in Newly
Discovered Software after the Nightly task runs.
Components with “Unmanaged” state will not be moved to “Newly discovered” by nightly
schedule.
No KB Reference – Resolve issues where the state of software components is set incorrectly
Problem/Symptoms:
Nightly schedule was unable to set the same state of components and its associated
product, if they differ in state. To solve this issue, Nightly schedule will assign the same state
to components as that of associated product, if they differ in state. For example: if a
software component have state=0 and a software product matching to that component has
state = 1 then after nightly schedule both the product and component state will be set to
“1”.
No KB Reference – Inventory hierarchy rule incorrectly replicates 'Software Component'
resources that belong to Patch
Problem/Symptoms:
Non installed patch component should not be replicated during replication by Inventory
solution as Patch Management data becomes inconsistent.
To solve this issue we modified the inventory replicated rules to replicate only those
software components which are installed on a target machine.

Problem/Symptoms:
Metered applications’ Start/Stop event data from child NS was not getting replicated to the
parent NS.
To solve this issue we modified the definition of “Inventory Data classes data-Metering Data
classes” replication rule from resource data class based to event data class based.

This hot fix is applicable only to Inventory Solution 7.1 SP1.

are also included in the hotfix).
To view these replication rules on SMP console navigate to Settings > Notification Server >
Hierarchy > Hierarchy Management. On Hierarchy Management page click on “Replication” tab.
