Re: FIRST Robotics Team at Reading Memorial High School (RMHS)

Dear <insert name>,

I am writing on behalf of the FIRST Robotics Competition Team at RMHS. <Thank you for your support the past X years; include if appropriate>. I will be upfront and say that I am seeking financial support for the team for the 2014 - 2015 season. If you would like to learn more, please read this letter and enclosed documents.

US FIRST (For the Inspiration & Recognition of Science & Technology) was founded in

1992 to inspire young students to follow technical career paths. The FIRST Robotics

Competition (FRC) is a “competitive sport for the mind.” The RMHS team continues to grow and evolve. We have created a team structure that now has student leads paired with mentors for each of the disciplines. There are 2 students co-presidents: Business and Technical. Within each area there are workstream leads who are also students. Each lead is working directly with an adult mentor with specific domain expertise.

The Robockets enjoyed considerable success in our first two seasons. To see pictures and video of the Rockets 2013 and 2014 seasons, please visit the team website http://www.robockets.org/ and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/FrcTeam4761 .

For the 2015 competition season, the Robockets and RMHS have agreed to host a

Regional competition March 6 to 8. This is an exciting opportunity yet daunting challenge. We embrace this as yet another growth experience for the team and team members. We invite you to come watch the excitement at the RMHS Field House.

Participation in FRC Competitions presents a significant financial challenge. In order to continue to grow our robotics capabilities, the team has increased our budget for this season. Our goal is to raise $42,000. This will allow us to compete in 3 regional competitions, purchase a second robot and augment our tools. We are again reaching out to community and corporate organizations. Our goal with sponsorship is to foster lasting relationships that are beneficial to sponsors as well as the team. Sponsoring a First

Robotics Team provides access to large audiences during the competition season along with recognition as a partner in developing tomorrow’s technical leaders.

Should you decide to sponsor, we offer a range of marketing opportunities:

Platinum Sponsor ($2500 and higher) o Prominent Name/Logo on T-shirt, Robot, and Website o Robot Demonstration o Recognized by FIRST as Official Team Sponsor

Gold Sponsor ($1000 and higher) o Company name on Robot, Competition Shirt and Team Website

Silver Sponsor ($500 and higher) o Company name on Robot, and Team Website

Bronze Sponsor ($100 and higher) o Company name on Team Website

We hope the <Company Name> will <continue to; if appropriate> support the growth of robotics in Reading. If so, we encourage you to consider a larger donation, as we have doubled our operating budget from last year. We know it will be challenging to raise the funds, but we are confident in our ability to succeed.

As we enter our third season, we have received recognition from the IRS as a 501(c)3 organization. Please make checks payable to:
