PIONEER SECONDARY SCHOOL SCHOOL SAFETY SOPS FOR PUPILS (In Student Handbook - Homelink) WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE BULLIED Bullies use scare tactics to bully smaller or weaker students. Such scare tactics include telling you either in person or through the telephone that he or his friends that ‘some people' are going to beat you up because you have done some wrong. They also tell you not to report this to anyone - whether your parents, teachers or the police, or it will be worse for you. Another scare tactic is when the bully gets a few outside friends (usually youths not in school uniform) to waylay you on your way to school or from school. The group of young people would either stare at you or ask you questions such as why you said certain things to their friend in your class or in school. They may even frighten you by using physical force like pushing you down or hitting you. All these are scare tactics used by bullied to frighten you, so that they can get you to do anything they want. Very often what they want is your money and your time to go about with them, or to join their 'gang' Other forms of bullying include cutting queues during recess, borrowing money, books or personal items from you without any intention of returning them or jostling or pushing you without apologizing. Sometimes physical force is used by bullies even in class, under the pretext of play. It is the duty of the victims and students who have witnessed the bullying to report the bullies to the relevant school personnel NOTE: THE SCHOOL TAKES VERY STERN ACTIONS AGAINST ALL FORMS OF BULLYING, INSIDE OR OUTSIDE SCHOOL. USE OF PHYSICAL FORCE COULD LEAD TO EXPULSION FROM SCHOOL.
