Terms of Reference for Focus Group
Acholi Durable Solutions Assessment
Discussion Coordinators
Purpose
The FGD Coordinators will play a key role in the Durable Solutions Assessment
exercise. Under the supervision of the Field Coordinator and overall guidance of the
Project Coordinator, the FGD Coordinators will organize, chair and steer the focus group
discussions according to the guidelines provided by the Project Coordinator.
Apart from these responsibilities, the FGD Coordinator will have to provide support to the
training of enumerators, for which he/she will receive training.
Key Responsibilities







Identification of participants on the Focus Groups discussions;
Preparation of the focus group discussions, including arranging venue,
refreshments, transport for participants, etc.;
Keeping documentation well filed and updated on the process and outcome of the
focus group discussions;
Write a report summarizing the outcome of the focus group discussions;
Provide support for the training of survey enumerators;
Liaise closely with the other FGD Coordinators to ensure that all activities are
implemented in a coordinated manner;
Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
Reporting Arrangements
The FGD Coordinators will report to the Field Coordinator and receive guidance from the
Project Coordinator.
Personal Specifications
Essential:








University degree in Law, Social Science, Information Technology or a related field;
Minimum 1 year of previous work experience working in the field with refugees,
IDPs or vulnerable population;
Previous experience on data collection, needs assessments and surveys
(participative survey, focus group, interviews);
Demonstrated leadership and management skills;
Good command of MS word, Excel and Email software;
Proficiency in English & Acholi is essential;
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective and
working relations with local and international staff and other stakeholders;
Good understanding of IDP and protection-related issues.
