Active vs. Inactive
All new coaches start out their first week as inactive and the beachbody system checks every Wednesday night
at 12p EST to see if each coach has bought or sold at least 50 PV in the last 35 days (see your price list in your
Coach Online Office for PV amounts or log into TeamBeachbody.com and click SHOP to go to an item in your store
to see PV amounts). If you have 50PV’s, it posts your new "active" status, or higher status, the next day- Thursday
afternoon. The status ranks are: Coach Inactive, Coach Active, Emerald, Ruby, Diamond, Two-Star
Diamond...etc). So even if you bought or sold 50 PV worth today, it would stay inactive until Thursday afternoon. 50
PV is about equivalent to what YOU pay, dollar for dollar, for products as a Coach. For example, Turbo Jam Max
Results is ~ $45 for you as Coach and 45PV. If someone buys it from your webpage, they pay ~$60 and you still get
your 45PV and your commission check. It's the same PV pts whether you buy it for yourself, or someone buys from
your webstore from you. You can even buy it from your own online office for someone else and then collect a check
from them made payable directly to you for retail price (or whatever price you want to charge).

What does being "Inactive" really mean?
Again, your status only changes on Thursday afternoon of each week, and that status stays with you all week until
next Thursday, regardless of what you buy or sell.
As "Inactive", you are still a Coach; you still receive commissions on sales you make, you still have a webpage, but
inactive status is a pretty good indicator that you're not really actively buying or selling and therefore not getting much
out of the coaching experience.
If you’re NOT using product, you’re not likely to be talking about it, and REALLY not likely to be able to genuinely
convince others to try products. Live the Beachbody coaching lifestyle and the sales will come naturally. If you HAVE
bought or sold at least 50 PV of products in the last 35 days, you'd be listed as Active. Again, the system looks at
your activity every Wednesday night, at 12pm EST, to see if you've bought or sold 50 PV in the last 35 days.
Why would it be important to get Active?
The first level of higher earnings(eligible for team bonus and the Customer Lead Program where BB *assigns* you
customers) is to become an Emerald Rank, which means you are active and you have at least 2 coaches under you
that are active; one active on each side- right and left. So you could be Emerald for a few weeks, but have a coach
who hasn't bought in 35 days and fall out of Emerald status...not a show-stopper- but you DO lose your carryover
volume when you drop to Coach status. Plus the more coaches you have, the easier it is to maintain your Rank
and go higher. If you're using products yourself each month, and/or have a regular customer or two, your status
remains active easily.
Achieving Emerald can actually happen pretty quickly even as a brand new coach. As a new coach, you should
IMMEDIATELY make a list of everyone you know, then scale that list based on who you think are leaders and gogetters. Start connecting with those people! Let them know you’ve started this new business, with a huge opportunity
for residual income within a couple of years of building it, and want to see if they are interested in pursuing it as well.
If you know of some people that might be interested in the business too, you can send them to the
PlatinumPresenters.com website to learn more, or have them check YOUR site, or send them the “What to Say”
template (located in this manual on the “building your business” page) and then just follow up the next day or so to
see if they're ready to roll. But ALWAYS reconnect with people and continue to build the relationship/connection. Do
NOT just follow up with asking whether they’re going to join you or not. That is undermining the value of your
relationship and the value of this very important business decision and the commitment that needs to follow it.
Of course, you will sometimes have people wanting to join JUST for the discounts – GREAT! Do not turn those folks
down! Many of those people end up selling without even trying anyway!

EXPECTATIONS:
Usually out of every 10 people you talk to about it, if you have 3 who eventually join you after a couple of
communications, that’s considered a GREAT ratio! It's an awesome opportunity, but some people will not see it, or
it's bad timing for them, or they just aren't go-getters! Facebook and twitter, specifically TweetDeck, are HUGE in
building this business if you make a point to reach out to new people EVERY day and learn about them...that's the
FASTEST way to get people interested in YOU and what YOU do. Get yourself on Twitter (install Tweetdeck from
tweetdeck.com if you can) and facebook and make SURE you've mentioned your business website on there in the
field that asks for your website. But it is NOT recommended that you make it obvious in your profile that you’re an
Independent Beachbody Coach – that can turn some people off from friending you or following you on twitter as they
may suspect you’ll try to PUSH products on them.
I didn't care for twitter until I installed tweetdeck, and now I love it! I've met tons of people on there and have gotten
some great coaches and networked with some amazing people, but we usually connect further on Facebook after
we’ve met on Twitter. The key is to follow others on Twitter/Tweetdeck because when you follow them, they usually
follow you back!
PREPARING FOR BUSINESS
 Create your Coach Profile for your retail webpage.
o Go to www.TeamBeachbody.com , click COACH>Coach Online Office and sign in
o Update your Profile w/your BIO and at least a “before” pic;
o Upload a “Before” Picture and Update your Account information if necessary;
o Profile does NOT need to be 100% complete, but have at least your bio, picture & screen name.
 Share with others what you’re doing and why you’re doing it;
 Know your retail site to send your customers ex: www.Beachbody.com/<screenname>
 Review your Coach Business Kit from Beachbody,
 Go to www.TeamBeachbody.com , click COACH>CoachOnlineOffice>News&Training
 LIST everyone you know, rate them 1-10 on leadership & desire to own their own business;
 Start presenting the business to your “10’s” from your list, get advice & assistance from your sponsor. Ask
your sponsor for a template of “What to Say” and see the Building Your Business section of your manual.
 Order Business Cards (FREE on VistaPrint.com);
 Log-in to www.Wowy.com and log in your first workout (click “Start Workout Now”);
 Start communications and further training with your Sponsor; schedule a time to talk after you join!
 Find a product or two that you’ll focus on first. Get active by buying at least 50PV worth of product;
 Create a member account with FREE resources PlatinumPresenters.com & TeamFitRevolution.com;
 Start presenting the business to others 3-5x/week, you’ll end up with sign-ups EVERY month and within a
year, you’ll be AMAZED at how much your weekly check grows exponentially. Think of yourself as a
Consultant; consulting others on starting their own fitness business. You’re not a salesperson!
 Consider Churches, Schools, & other Businesses. You can make them your customer and help them start a
fitness program, or make them a Coach so they can raise funds. Non-profits get fees waived!
 Make your presence known on your blog, Facebook, Twitter, and other sites! Exposure is Key. Build YOU
as your brand.
 Identify your niche, and your goals, put your fears and reservations aside….. and GO FOR IT!
Remember, as long as you have a Coach Webpage, you can always make 25% commission on all sales, even if
you’ve been inactive in the past. But to create RESIDUAL income that grows and grows and surpasses your wildest
imagination, you must share the business opportunity with leaders 3-5x/week in BRIEF presentations lasting 30min
or less (in person, phone, online). And then it’s CRITICAL that you require YOUR coaches that join you, to follow in
your footsteps and do all that YOU do. That’s growth!

Additional Definitions
PV / BV - The amount of personal volume points you have bought (for yourself from your own online office) or points
you have SOLD. Either one.
TV, RTV, LTV - Total Volume, which consists of your Right Team Volume (RTV) + your Left Team Volume (LTV).
This is important once you’re Emerald Ranked because it determines how if, and how many times, you will cycle a
team bonus.
Preferred Placement – Refers to the right or left leg of your organization. The “level” of placement is really irrelevant.
The side, right or left, helps determine if, and how many times, you will cycle in a week. If you always have PV’s in
one side and not in the other, then set your preferred placement to that weak side so the next coach joining you, is
placed there. You can maximize your team cycle bonuses if you are somewhat balanced on both sides in terms of
how many PV’s normally add up (the # of coaches is irrelevant since some NEVER buy or sell).

Customer Lead Program
What is the benefit? Customers assigned to you ~daily!! At first they may not order much, because they
have JUST ordered from Beachbody (and you don’t get credit for that first order since it came from a
Beachbody advertisement). But they DO order as time goes on and especially if you’re updating them with
information and new products available on your site.
What are the Qualifications?
1) Emerald Rank
2) At least 8 Wowy workouts logged in REAL time within the last 30 days – Scheduled workouts do NOT
count. And only 1 workout a day counts.
3) At least a "Before" Picture posted on your retail webpage with a bio
4) Club Member (costs $38/qtr... click "Join the Club" on your retail webpage
To log a LIVE wowy workout (only LIVE workouts count):
Choose Wowy in your Coach Online Office (or go to www.Wowy.com) and click "Start Workout Now" after

Presenting the Coaching Business Opportunity to Others
Like any business, to be successful, there’s a learning curve. The biggest mistake you can make is to try to explain
ALL that coaching entails when presenting this opportunity. In fact, your best and most effective “presentation” of the
opportunity, should be a brief but appealing one! Sharing the opportunity should actually take you a few messages
back and forth. The first should be simply a BRIEF mention/exposure of the opportunity. If they have any kind of
interest or want more info, THEN you can give them MORE info or send them to a webinar, or send them a 3 rd party
tool. If you find you have had good luck communicating with someone on social media or via email, here is a good
example of what you can say to explain it. This again, the example script below would be given AFTER you’ve
mentioned the opportunity, maybe sent them the Decide dvd, etc. Use your best judgment, just be sure this is not the
way you FIRST mention it to them because this would be too much info. This is more like your 2 nd more detailed
explanation of it. Or if you’re sitting down with them, the way you’d explain the big picture of it.
And once you've briefly explained it below, don't try to convince someone to do it, but follow up a day or two later and
ask if they're still interested... and continue to connect on other topics in that same message..don't just be singlemindedly reaching out to recruit a coach. People don’t want to feel SOLD on an idea, they want to feel that you know
they’re situation and you’ve helped them find a solution.
If even 3 join you out of TEN you've thought would be good, you're doing great! So don't be disappointed with "no's".

Provide Your Customers with Tips & Info
When you have customers in your Coach Online Office (and if you’re eligible for the Customer Lead program, you’ll
accumulate LOTS of customers), you can send them a bulk Email or even an Ecard. Even if their email shows as
RESTRICTED, they still get your emails. Their email is only restricted from the display – sending the email will still
work. Whether they open it or not will depend on how effectively you name the subject heading. See “Getting Your
Emails Open More Often” article within this manual.
Where can you find tips and info for your customers? There are great articles on strength training, the benefits of
cardio exercise and even articles on Beachbody products/programs. Use google to find some of your favorite sites
continually putting out great info, and save those sites to your “favorites”.
Getting Your Emails Opened More Often
5 tips for boosting your open rate by Martin Lieberman, Constant Contact Managing Editor
In these days of increasing inbox crowdedness, competition for eyeballs is at an all-time high. Take your own inbox
for example. Think of all of the emails you get in a single day. Your time to read these messages is limited. You have
to pick and choose which ones you want to look at and read. This is true for your list members too, and is a
compelling reason to make sure your content is valuable to them.
Of course, you can have the greatest, most relevant content in your emails, but if no one opens them, then it all goes
to waste. So what are some ways to ensure that your emails will be opened and read by your customers? Here
are five of them.
1. Segment your mailing list and send more targeted emails.
How big is your mailing list? When it comes to email marketing, quality is definitely more important than quantity.
Larger lists tend to have lower open rates because it becomes difficult to please everybody, and those who aren't
interested just won't open your messages. The better you know your list members and their interests -- and the more
your emails cater to them -- the higher your open rates will be.
Think about your mailing list. Are there ways you can break it up into smaller, more targeted lists? For example, if you
own a sporting goods store, you can send separate messages to those who are interested in baseball, soccer,
football, tennis, running, and so on. Or, if it's appropriate, you can send separate messages to men and to women, or
to single people and families.
When you get an email about something you are truly interested in and that is relevant to you, you are more likely to
open it.
2. Improve your subject lines.
To put it most simply, a good subject line will get an email opened. Lead with a benefit that lets the receiver know
what's in it for him or her. Make it interesting, and try to pique the reader's curiosity. You want the reader to feel
compelled to find out more.
Remember, your audience is extremely busy, and will likely make the decision to open or ignore your email within
two seconds. You want them to feel like if they don't open your message then they will be missing out. Convey
urgency and timeliness but remember: avoid all caps, exclamation points, and words like "free" and "sale" (they'll get
your email caught by the spam filter).
3. Test your sending times.
One way to boost your open rate is to look at when people who do open your emails are doing so. Is it in the

morning, midday, or at night? Try splitting your list in half. Send to half the people at your normal time and to the
other half on a different day or at a different time of day to see if one results in a higher open rate.
Similarly, sometimes you can find the ideal time to send your emails simply by looking at the addresses on your list.
Are they predominately work email addresses or ones that go to a personal inbox, like Gmail or AOL? Those who get
emails sent to them at work are more likely to read them during the day, and those who get them at a personal
account will likely read them at night. Change your send time accordingly.
4. Check your "from" name.
Most emails that are quickly ignored or deleted are those with an unrecognizable "from" name or address. Is your
"from" name easily recognizable? Do your list members know who they are receiving an email from? Put a name that
your receivers are most familiar with in your "from" line. In most cases, this is not your own name (or the name of the
person in your office who sends out your email campaigns), but you would know best if your readers would recognize
a specific person's name versus your business or organization's name.
5. Evaluate how often (and what) you send.
Sometimes the reason why people don't open emails is because they simply get too many of them. Or, on the flip
side, maybe you're not sending often enough and recipients are losing interest in between the times when they do
hear from you. Consider asking those on your mailing list how often they want to hear from you. For example, give
them the option to sign up for weekly or monthly emails.
Another way to change your frequency is to adjust your content. Are you sending weekly messages that contain both
informational newsletter content and promotions in the same emails? Why not send separate newsletter and
promotional mailings, one on one week and the other on the next? That way, you'll be able to see which messages
your audience responds to more, and you can alter your send times accordingly.
INSTRUCTIONS ON SENDING AN ECARD
It is an EXCELLENT idea to send Ecards from your Coach Online Office at www.TeamBeachbody.com! They
have a BUNCH of new cards! There are a couple of different ways to send an Ecard....
1) If you have customers in your customer database:
Go to My Customers>Customer Search>Show Report, then at the top of your customer list, find & click "Send
Ecard". It will walk you through choosing your Ecard template & entering the text.
2) If you do NOT yet have customers and just want to send to friends and family:
Go to My Desk>My Ecards>Create an Ecard and again it will walk you through selecting an Ecard template &
entering the text.
Regardless of your method, make SURE to include your retail website as the most prominent part of your
signature. In other words, I recommend you put your site in the NAME field & put your name in the phone
field.

QUICK unofficial TWEETDECK Tutorial
(Social Media is constantly changing and updating! Be constantly on the lookout for new innovative things!)
Go to www.Twitter.com to create an account , upload a picture and set your screenname. Make your
screen name something short enough that gives people the ability to easily re-tweet you! Everything on
twitter is limited to 140 characters, so keep that in mind when setting your screen name.
Once you have your account set up, go to www.TweetDeck.com and click Install. Tweetdeck is FREE and
a HUGE asset to your business. There are others out there that may work better for you, or if you prefer to
manage twitter from your phone. Figure out which is best for you, but chances are, TWITTER by itself is
NOT going to be your best bet! You want something like Tweetdeck that has great functionality!
Follow as many positive thinking people as you can! Following someone is not your way of saying "hi, i'd
like to start stalking you". I know... following people "sounds" stalker-ish, but EVERYONE does it, it's
the way twitter is meant to work! Following someone is your way of inviting someone into your network.. it's
like a compliment to them. They'll get a notification that you're now following their tweets, they'll check out
your profile (make sure you say you help others get fit and help others start their own business) and they'll
check out your picture (make sure you look nice, trustworthy, presentable), they'll look at your recent
tweets, aka your “timeline”, THEN they'll decide if they want to follow YOU. Most people will get a 75%
follow-back rate. So if you follow 100 people today, you'll like have 75 new followers result from that.
And if you tweet a lot, they'll get used to seeing your face and get to know you as the positive-thinking,
funny, friendly, normal, trustworthy fitness source - that's how you should aim to position yourself. If you
always tweet about the same things, and you never ask others questions to get to know THEM… you can
lose their interest and they'll UNFOLLOW you. Be interested in others rather than trying to be interesting!
80% of tweets = tips, funny things, workouts, and just life in general
20% = something that intrigues them to ask u about what u do, or leads 2ur webpage.
BE SURE to CONVERSE with others using the @ in front of their twittername!!
Avoid mass shout-outs like “join my team!!” “Be a coach!!”… those are not NEARLY as effective as
speaking to someone one on one about this opportunity.
Hover over someone's face when they tweet & you'll see 4 little icons. Choose an action:
reply = everyone that is on twitter can see what you reply to this person (even people you're not following
and aren't following you..
"direct message" aka DM = that's personal just between you and that person. You should try to go to a
"direct message aka DM" when you start talking about coaching so that they feel it's a personal
conversation between the two of you and you're not 'exposing' their opinion or responses to the rest of the
world. : ) But you can only go to a DM if they are following you, so sometimes you’ll just have to reply.
"retweet" aka RT = that means you're repeating another person's tweet ... maybe you liked what they said,
or maybe you want 2respond to it. If u JUST reply without retweeting, your reply may not make sense
because no one else knows what you're replying to. So retweet and put your reply in CAPS. Retweeting is
a QUICK way to get your face on there again without having to come up w/your own thoughts : ) you can
just quote what THEY said and add your own thought/comment to it in front of it in CAPS.
Retweets have an RT in front of them. Direct messages have a D in front of them.

OTHER ACTIONS = this is where you choose User, then select FOLLOW . Then click on the icon to “Add
to Group”. USING GROUPS IS CRITICAL. To set up your “groups”, click the magnifying glass icon at the
top left, choose a group name (ex: New Friends/Leaders or potential customers), and as you add people
you think you want to start connecting with, add them to a group so you can EASILY see their tweets and
retweet/reply to them each time you’re at your pc.
You can set up your phone so that you can tweet from your phone by just texting the number 40404. That
way if you have a funny thought while you're out, you can tweet it. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE AN
INTERNET/DATA PACKAGE ON YOUR PHONE TO DO THIS.
On Fridays, participate in follow Friday. WHY? To help YOUR coaches grow their network and to help
your prospects get more followers. It’s a favor to your coaches and your prospects.
How? You list all the people you think everyone else should follow and put a #FF in front of it or somewhere
in the tweet. The more followers you have, the more likely SOMEONE will respond when you tweet about a
product or about coaching. Remember 80% helpful, funny, interesting, etc. and only 20% is something that
leads them to go to your website to check something out, or that leads them to ask you what it is that you
do, etc. If you come across as a salesperson, people will quickly UNFOLLOW you.
If you could only spend 1 hr a day following people and entering a few tweets... it's an hour WELL spent,
but give it time ... your followers need to build up and get to know you! Tweet as often as possible so you're
recognized & tweet from your phone as if you were entering a text. It only takes 2 seconds to text
something funny/interesting - just enter the number 40404. Go to your twitter.com account (to your settings)
to set it to accept tweets from your phone.
Once you’ve established a connection with someone on twitter (you’ve tweeted back & forth several times),
add them on facebook- that’s where relationships build further.

Team Accountability Call
I'm sure you've already discovered that having a passion for success does not necessarily mean success
will come. You have to go after it!
Of course people laughed when Beachbody trainer, CHALENE Johnson, was in her early 20's and said
what she really LOVED to do was teach fitness classes and wanted to make her living by doing just that.
Any instructor knows, then and now, you CANNOT make a living just teaching fitness classes... but she
was determined and more importantly she had a plan of action. No, it wasn't going to be simple. Yes, it
would take years. Yes, she would fail several times before her dream would come true. And no, she didn't
give up when others made negative comments or when things weren't coming to fruition quickly enough.
Every day of every week, of every month, of every year she had lists of tasks that would take her closer to
her goals.
This business is no different in that sense... there is truly an unlimited potential for earnings with this and
fortunately for us, unlike many others who've become successful in other businesses, we have other top
earning coaches who we KNOW are making close to a million with this, if not more, so we already know it
can be done. We just have to duplicate their passion, duplicate their steps... and why not try to set a NEW
standard? Who says any of these top earning coaches are any better than any of YOU!
The problem is some people do NOT want to tackle the tasks that require them to go even slightly out
of their comfort zone. It's easier to just say "I don't have time".. "I tried but it didn't work for me"... “I'm not
cut out for that"... "I'm not smart enough"... "not thin enough" .. blah blah blah! GET OVER YOUR
EXCUSES! If you want to be leaner/ wealthier/happier than you've ever been in your life, you have to take
some STEPS you've never taken.
You have to stop believing that your situation is somehow more difficult than someone else's. Yes,
we ALL go through busy times, tragic times, and some really unfortunate circumstances... but it's your
thoughts, decisions, and actions that will pull some DOWN while others learn from their
experiences/weaknesses and rise up.
One of the most impactful tips you can implement is to generate enough leads to present the business to 3
solid prospects per week. That doesn't mean SIGNING 3 people per week; it just means presenting the
opportunity of Coaching to them. Realistically, anything short of that is likely to produce SLOW growth, if
any. Some coaches are actually presenting the opportunity to 7-10/week!
So to build in accountability and continual motion and growth of your business, talk to your Coach to find
out when their weekly accountability call is. Every Coach who is serious about their business should
consider joining! Eventually when your team of personally sponsored coaches has gotten larger, you will
then start a separate accountability call for your team. There are no "rank" pre-requisites, just a
commitment to raising the bar.
