INTERNATIONAL STUDIES DEGREE
10. Transfer Documentation
Four-year institutions generally recommend that prospective transfer students majoring in International Studies
include study of a second language and incorporate classes in international relations, comparative politics, western
and non-western history, politics and government, gender studies, macroeconomics, microeconomics and
communications.
Cuesta College has chosen pertinent courses which will not only prepare students adequately for a major in
International Studies at four-year colleges but which will also satisfy lower-division transfer requirements for five
majors at four specific transfer institutions. While the courses which transfer institutions require at the lower
division frequently overlap, the packaging varies from institution to institution. Therefore it is impossible to design a
degree course package which is a perfect match for more than one four-year institution.
The following chart illustrates Cuesta College's methodology of selection. The degree courses were chosen based
on the high frequency with which they articulate with lower division requirements. The subsequent documentation
shows the exact line-up of the same five majors.

requirements for the five majors. Transfer students should be advised to check the specific requirements at the fouryear institution of their choice and supplement their curriculum accordingly.
