The Essential Questions: These will be assigned when announced.
1. What is a memory and how does it form?
2. When you study how do you do it? What methods of memory do you use to retain the material?
3. You will not remember much of your High School academic experience; however, what do you think will
“stick” with you after High School?
4. How accurate are your memories? How can you prevent errors in your memory?
5. If you were on Trial would you want eyewitnesses or not?
Daily Schedule:
Day 1:
1. PsychSim: Iconic Memory + Short Term Memory (pgs. 460-462 in CP)
2. Fact/Falsehood (pg. 459 in CP)
3. HW: Read 8.3 of eBook and take notes. In addition, complete mnemonic device activity, which I emailed
to you. (Should have read 8.1 and 8.2 for homework)
Day 2: Please do the ABOVE Sims on Your own ONLINE
1. INTRO to Memory Class Demos/Applications
2. Review Sensation and Perception Exam
3. Read “Amazing Memories: Rajan Mahadevan and AJ” (pgs 463-464 in CP)
4. HW Catch up!
Day 3:
1. Encoding
a. Watch episode “Remember This!” from video “Brain Games”
b. Mnemonics (pg 465-466 in CP)
c. Silly Sentences (In Class Demo)
2. Memory Storage
a. Sensory Memory
b. Short-Term Memory
i. Immediate Memory Span
c. Long-Term Memory
3. HW: Read 8.4 of eBook and take notes.

Day 4: PsychSim: When Memory Fails (pgs 469 in CP)
1. HW: Read articles “Stressed Out Memories” and “Remember This” (pgs 473-480) & Answer EQ #1
a. (4 point argument, using 3 pieces of specific evidence from each article to support answer).

Day 5:
1. IN Class Videos/Demos/Applications
2. H.W: PsychSims Forgetting (pg. 486 in CP: Then 486-489 Surveys and applications) &Read 8.5 and 8.6
over the next two nights of eBook and take notes.

Day 7:
1. Forgetting Activities
a. Watch video “True of False” (Changing your Mind or Pieces of Mind)
2. Read article AND Discussion Topics: “Creating False Memories” “Misinformation Effects”
3. And “Rooted Sorrows” (pgs 498-506) in CP). Take notes on the 8 most significant points – specific quotes from the article that help you answer EQ #4. AND Read 8.7 in eBook. THIS Section WILL
HELP YOU BIG ON THE FINAL! Great tips for Study Habits and Memory Enhancement.
Day 8:
1. End of Memory Unit: Review Article: Creating False Memories
2. FINAL EXAM PREP Q& A Session
