Mr. Trzepinska World Cultures Enriched Absolute Monarch Resume CLASSIFIED From the citizens of your county Your country is seeking the leadership and guidance of an absolute leader. After the Reformation and the weakening of the power of the Roman Catholic Church, your country declared its independence and created a sovereign nation. Your mission is to be the best absolute ruler to claim the throne of your country and lead it to greatness! The nation has narrowed the list of potential applicants to the following leaders: Phillip II (Spain) Louis XIV (France) Frederick the Great (Prussia) Oliver Cromwell (England) Elizabeth I (England) Peter the Great (Russia) Catherine the Great (Russia) Your Task: You will be assigned a different leader from the Age of Absolutism to research. The information will then be used to create a resume for your absolute ruler 1. Research that monarch using multiple sources like your textbook and cell phones. 2. Create a resume for that monarch including: - Name, contact information (nationality/address in a header) - Objective statement (What your leader hopes to accomplish as a leader of this new nation) - Education / training (schools, military, religious, etc.) - Work/Job Experience o Highlight the skills this ruler needed to assume and keep power as an absolute monarch o HOW DID THEY FIT INTO THE THEME OF ABSOLUTE RULER o What are your person’s qualifications? o Accomplishments. What did your leader accomplish at their old job? Things your leader wants to stress in order to get hired. Make sure to list specific events and actions. - Use a resume format o You can find many resume plates online and in Microsoft Word o Remember resumes are clear, concise, and to the point o A typical resume is no longer than two pages o Remember to be creative! A resume is supposed to highlight you as the BEST CANDIDATE FOR THAT JOB. 3. Presentation to the class will be in an interview format. Be prepared to answer these interview questions: a. Describe your biggest accomplishment at your previous position? b. Explain some challenges you faced at your pervious position and how you overcame them. c. Tell me a little about yourself and your background. Why would you be a good leader for Westphaliaburg? d. How would your leader run the government? Why is this the best way? e. Your classmates will be free to ask questions as well. 4. After the Interviews – Class discussion a. What were the characteristics of most of the leaders during the Age of Absolutism b. How did each ruler affect the country where he or she ruled? c. How do they compare to the leaders of today? d. What characteristics would you want in your leader?
