PSII LESSON PLAN Teacher Candidate: Casey Cole Location: Estelline Date/Time: November 18th 2013 Class and Grade Level: Spanish I – Ninth Grade Daily Lesson Topic: Present tense of Tener and some Tener idioms Unit: Capitulo 4 – Costa Rica Standards: National Foreign Language Standards – ACTFL – 5 C’s – Standard 1.1 Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions and exchange opinions. Goals: Working with Tener in expressing how much you have of something. Work on previous knowledge of indefinite articles: cuanto mucho and poco. Introduce Tener idioms and practice with these expressions. Daily Objectives: SWBAT conjugate the verb Tener and create automaticity with it with practice throughout the lesson. SWBAT express idioms that are used with Tener. Instructional method: Direct Instruction, Modeling, Cooperative learning ELL modification/accommodation: Bingo game that uses last weeks/chapter vocabulary and questions but also TENER expressions. We will go through the Bingo worksheet as a class before I let the class turn loose for getting a bingo. Materials: tenerBINGO worksheet, Props for being hungry… thirsty… in a hurry… Time: 5 min Time: 15 min Description of Each Phase of the Lesson Plan Brief Reflection/Explanation Introduction: Bellwork: Activity on page 126 Write it on board and allow allocated time for this beginning activity. Go over activity on the board with the students answers Instruction: 1. PAGE 126 I will introduce the verb TENER with the conjugated chart where the students will copy it down into their verb journals 2. Have a volunteer read En ingles. Then go over idioms starting with TENER HAMBRE. (BRING PROPS) “Además, Hoy llevé algunos objetos. Tengo mucho hambre entonces, tengo esta… y para beber, tengo sed por este café… We start with Bellwork so Mrs. Saathoff can take attendance and lunch role. Light introduction on the verb tener, its abbreviations, and idioms before we turn to practicing it and communicating with peers. Ustedes tienen sed…? Quien te gusta beber el café?
