Aberdeen And North East Beer Festival
Beer Token Sales Worker Guidelines
1. Public, CAMRA Members and Trade Invites
 Till procedures will be available at the till describing pre-programmed keys. If in doubt ask for
instruction from the Door Manager – George Howie.
 Experience has shown that, at busy times, the best way to operate is as a pair. First person takes
money, gives out glasses and tokens. Second person works the till and does nothing else.
 Use the pre-stapled packs of tokens whenever possible.
 For tokens sold which are not multiples of £2 (i.e. full sheets) split a token down the middle i.e. £1.
Do not sell any denominations less than £1 – they can get a refund on any left-overs if they are too
tight to donate to charity.
 All Tokens are £2 per sheet
 To speed up entry only the ‘£20 Express Cash Entry Package’ is being sold at the front door
[£ 6 to get in and £ 14 worth of beer tokens]
 Do not accept denominations over £20
 All NON ‘£20 Express Cash Entry Package’ sales are taken here at the products/tokens desk i.e.
 Those wanting to pay by card
 Members wanting a discounted entry
 Trade invites
 Those wanting to buy extra tokens
 Those wanting to buy less than £14 tokens each
 Those wanting to buy an extra glass etc.
 Those wanting refunds on tokens
 Card carrying CAMRA/ECBU members MUST SIGN IN FIRST – unless they fill in their name,
membership number and branch name then they don’t get the discount – you must check their
membership card is still in date and valid
 Entry = £3 for glass plus face value of the requested quantity of beer tokens – suggest £10
worth and tell them they can buy more later
 Trade invites
 entitles the bearer to free entry, a festival glass and programme but only £ 6 beer tokens for
each invitation ticket.
 Marked boxes of Trade Invite glasses [pre-stuffed with £6 worth of tokens] are kept under the
counter - do not use for non Trade Invites.
 Please put Trade Invite tickets in the till for collection by Treasurer after updating the Trade
Invite sheet with a tick against appropriate day.
 Non members who don’t want £14 beer token purchases – £6 for glass/entry plus tokens at face value
NB each token is worth £2
 Extra 2015 festival glasses are £6 each – no exceptions, ever, even CAMRA members
2. Broken/damaged glasses
 If damaged at outset - exchange free of charge
 If damaged by our volunteers - exchange free of charge
 If damaged as result of accidental handling – verified by hall manager – exchange free of charge
 If damaged deliberately or as result of “horse play” then charge £6
 Damaged glasses must be collected, counted and if appropriate stored in a spare glass box for
subsequent inspection (checking for manufacturing flaws etc.)
3. Token refunds
 First ask them if they would like to use their tokens to buy CAMRA products.
 Secondly encourage punters to put unused tokens in the charity box.
 Finally as a last resort refunds will be given on whole multiples of £1 for unused beer tokens.
