My role was to establish and strengthen a Country Operational Risk & Internal Control (ORIC) function under the HSBC Group’s
enhanced ORIC Management Framework (ORMF). This was based on the concept of ‘three lines of defence’ to reduce
operational losses and also to comply with Basel-II and regulatory guidelines for risk management. Currently I am looking after
Country Operational Risk function with a direct reporting to Country Chief Risk Officer. Achievements include:







Single-handedly implemented HSBC Group’s enhanced Global Operational Risk Management Framework under a year
within Pakistan operations. Delivered an organization-wide process for self-identification and communication of risks to
improve their transparency and firmly embed a risk compliant culture. This included implementation of the Risk and Control
Assessments (RCA) across all businesses and functions operating in Pakistan.
Functioning as the secretary of the Country ORIC Committee to present the bank’s operational risk profile to local senior
management for setting mitigating actions for emerging risk issues and following up for implementation.
Maintaining oversight of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Information Security Risk and Vendor Risk Management processes,
and Compliance issues through Country ORIC Committee for compliance with FIM requirements by closing identified gaps.
Single-handedly providing support to over 40 users of HSBC’s revamped operational risk management system “ORION”.
Currently functioning as the resident system expert.
Performing duties of Deputy Business Information Risk Officer (BIRO) for Credit & Risk Management (CRM).
Assigned the responsibilities of business recovery plan (BRP) coordinator for Credit & Risk Management (CRM).

The Citizen’s Foundation (TCF) is a professionally managed, non-profit organisation working to improve the quality of
education in Pakistan. As of 2012, they have 830 purpose-built schools nationwide in urban slums and rural areas with an
enrolment of more than 115,000 students. I volunteer for their ‘Rahbar’ (Urdu for ‘Guide’ / ‘Mentor’) mentorship programme
which aims at the development of youth as responsible individuals and as productive members of society.
