Proceedings:
1 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by Will Grauel
2 The minutes of the last meeting (September 17, 2008) were approved.
Executive Reports:
President, Drew Glasnovich
 Met with Dr. Beasley to discuss bills that were passed last year that have yet to be
implemented;
o Tennis court lights to be redone within 10 days
o Hate speech – pursuing a more concrete policy to be included in student
handbook
 Meeting tomorrow with athletic company to discuss proposed limitations on student
tickets at Stetson athletic events
 New SGA ads featured biweekly in The Reporter
Vice President, Will Grauel
 Committees have been decided; please reply to Committee chairs right away to set up
meeting times; average committee size is ~20 members
 Recognition sheets from previous Senates
 If you have a committee form, in front of you, please fill them out; if you have an
application, please fill it out so you can be added to the roster
 Non Stetson emails – we are going to use your Stetson.edu email address for all Senate
communication
 Yield to Nestor de Armas, Chairman of Presidential Search Committee
o Presidential Search: ad placed last May in several journals for higher education
(targeting minorities); recommendations and nominations; ~70 candidates
o 25 top candidates
o Now down to 12 candidates
o Eventually will have 3 finalists to meet with students, faculty, and administration
o On track to hire president by early 2009

Meeting with Jeannie next Wednesday to discuss creating a basic constitution that
campus organizations can use as an outline & also creating a "How to write a
constitution" for organizations
Creating a subcommittee to work on the campus organization basic constitution &
how to guide
Residential Living, as provided by Chair Derek Jansante
 Meeting with Justin Williams to talk about new structure for Dept. of Housing and
Residential Life (emailed out in Student Announcements)
 Possibilities for future of Nemec Hall – renovations to occur next semester
 Research into new types of special interest housing (i.e., Wellness, International, FirstYear)
 Structural changes for applications and training for RAs
 Fraternity housing for next semester will be ready for the spring 09 semester
 Clam shells are officially on order – starting with 17 dozen
 Environmental Responsibility committee is sponsoring mugs for $10 to go toward ERC;
to be available in C-Store, Kiosk, and Commons
 Cyber Café – working to get in touch with Dean Shriner and auxiliary services
 Possibility of discount at Coffee Kiosk and Hat Rack for “bring your own mug”
 Dumpster issue – Waste Management sold our region to another company so the
dumpsters are finally going to be removed
Ethics and Values, as provided by Chair Akeel St. Jean
 Check your emails to work out a committee meeting time
 Several pieces of legislation, including Bioplastics Bill, to discuss
 Please stay after Senate for a brief meeting

Vice President Thompson and Dean Nance are good people to talk to about the
Presidential search
College Democrats meeting Thursday at 6pm in Elizabeth Hall
International Peace Day this Sunday; OSAPE is celebrating on Monday, come make tshirts at UVA on Saturday at 2pm; tabling at the Commons on Monday
College Republicans meeting Thursday at 7pm in Elizabeth Hall 315
Alpha Xi Delta Philanthropy Week is next week (events include 5K, fashion show, and
Pizza Palooza)
IFC is tabling in front of the commons next week – stop by if you’re interested in signing
up for recruitment
The next Greenfeather Meeting will be 5:15pm on Monday, September 22 in the Hollis
Center Classroom
Sigma Phi Epsilon’s 8th Annual “Rock Against Cancer” is Saturday, October 4 at 4pm
